Yes, I have heard this one as well. I was surprised that some men think the only rings a woman wears is one she has been given as a gift or whatever by her boyfriend. Women actually buy rings for themselves, so I don't understand the logic behind this misconception.

But how are they suppost to know the difference. Sure you would think if it's not on the ring finger then their available but I've even had some friends where if given a ring they place it somewhere else.

Yes, this is true, but I have heard men ask their friends "What kind of ring is that?" when they are thinking of approaching the woman and are not sure if she is single or not. Look, I'm a woman and even I don't know the difference between an engagement ring and a cocktail ring , dress ring etc.

True stories:

1. I used to wear a ring on my wedding finger because it was the only finger that the ring fit properly. Until my close male friend advised me not to do so, not even on my right hand.

2. My friend wore a ring on her wedding finger for the same reason (it was a gift and only fit that finger) and for months she would flirt with this guy and give him the green light to ask her out, and he would not budge. It later turned out that he thought it was an engagement ring. She said to me "How on earth could he have thought it was an engagement ring all this time? It's so obvious that it is a cocktail ring!!!" and I was like "Huh? What's a cocktail ring?"

So there you have it....lol ;)
well just dont wear a diamond and you're set.

I sure hope so, lol! That's just gross.

LOL. Well, I grew up on a farm. If a woman smelled like a barn for no good reason, that would sicken me quite a bit. However, if she smelled like a barn from having actually been spending time in a barn, I would probably think that was pretty darn cute and not gross at all. :D

I guess that was intended to be a joke too, but it was the exact opposite of funny. Why? Because too many men really do sell themselves short and allow women to sell them short - "oh, we're men, we're dense, duhhh". News flash, this whole paradigm wasn't ANYWHERE near to being so widespread before every TV sitcom on earth began portraying married life this way, with the clumsy, dopey husband who needs his wife to set him straight. Too many men give up and just accept "I'm a dumb guy" instead of LEARNING and IMPROVING what they do not know.

As much as I dislike women who are man-haters, the whole paradigm alluded to by your joke is part of the reason why I'm becoming a bit of a man-hater, AND I'M A MAN.

I could not agree with this more. It's frustrating, irritating and saddening when I see a guy who has bought in to the "I'm just a stupid man" stereotype. Sometimes, I think guys just act like that because they think I expect them to or they think I think that.

NOT SO!

And as far as the teasing one another thing goes... There is, imo, nothing at all funner than exchanging witicisms with a guy.

Here's a trick for the ladies, too... In my experience, you can say almost anything to a guy in jest and it will not hurt his feelings as long as you SAY IT WITH A SMILE. A mysterious or mischevious smile is usually best. Just as long as he knows you don't mean it. If you're too dry, he might just think you're a jerk. If you flash the smile, something that would be a really mean thing to say, suddenly becomes enticing. Women are generally less receptive to this kind of jesting (we take offense to easily about some things).

Also, these kinds of jests can be a great way to compliment a guy without getting all mushy and making yourself uncomfortable. I don't know about other ladies, but I have a hard time complimenting men... So, instead I say something like (depending on the context) "oh my goodness, that was kind of wussy, maybe you should consider working out every once in a while" - said with the right tone of voice and a smile, what the guy should pick up on is "Wow, you're a hunk." ;)

 Maybe it's because I am not a man, but I would not be able to see the compliment in that comment....

It depends on the situation and the tone of voice. For example, in my previous example, I would have said it after asking him to open a jar for me or something. He would have just displayed some manly feat of strength (carried something heavy for me, opened a jar, etc). Then, when I call it wussy, it is in a sarcastic tone - making it obvious that I mean the opposite of what I am saying.

Trust me. It works every time. I've never offended a guy saying something like that.

What you wrote might have been a bit much, but I can see something working like: "I wouldn't have asked if I had known it would be such a struggle for you" or "Well, at least you're good for one thing."

This falls under playful and is something that some women probably cannot pull off.

"Show up naked?" For some reason, the mods don't allow anyone to comment (otherwise it is called "flaming") when people in the "Christians Only" section post things like this. Why don't the mods have restrictions on indecency?
I refer you to "goal 21" and its emphasis on a woman having sense of humor.

Wear a skirt once in a while, with heels (No, they don't have to be 4 inch stillettos (though those are nice too))

My mother has always said a lady doesn't wear big jewelry, and that a lady only wears two rings, one on the ring finger of each hand, and no ring on the left hand if she wants to make it socially clear that she is not engaged or married. And a lady never accepts a gift of jewelry from a man she isn't related to. The exception is an engagement ring.
