How the new forum will affect US......

I'm not consenting to having my posts moved to the new Former Adventist/Progressive forum.

I know from past experience that it would be an exercise in "attack the poster, not the post" or of "attack the believer, not the belief" and we are not going to be given the opportunity to defend ourselves.

I don't think it's right and I think we need to get this straightened out before the new forum is created.

Also, I think we need to revisit our rules.

Feedback? What do you think about the changes, what should we do to protect ourselves now, etc.

I was going to post something of this nature, but you beat me to it.

I kind of feel violated in a sense, having "outsiders" meddle in our affairs.

I know that there are some here that will be fine with having the progs move on to a place of their own, and I understand that. It is not exactly what I would want to see, but I will live with it.

But to have "outsiders" offer refugee when I think none was needed is how I feel violated.

In my opinion.

I don't think it was disclosed that there was a poll here to split the forum not even a year ago and MOST Progressive Adventists voted NO!

I don't think that was disclosed at all actually.

I can't say I'm sorry this is happening, but we have some new rules to formulate and some ground rules to set about our posts HERE being transferred over THERE.

I think we also need to discuss ex-Adventists coming here to teach or harass.

The site is going bonkers and I have class! See you guys later tonight!

I can stop the prog's who want to leave themselves. But since the internal division is over, there is no reason we should leave ourselves open. The debate should be limited to SDAs who agree with the 28 fundies and those who are studying the Adventist doctrines in order to join the SDA church.

I agree, our posts should stay in our forum--period. I have NO plans of going over to the WWMC forum--none at all. And I am looking forward to the peace.

But I also think that taking the threads in which the trads have posted is taking things too far.

Okay, how about this you guys? (I need some feedback please):

http://christianforums.com/t6899690

Those are the congregation-wide guidelines that this forum is currenly under.

Notice HOW a member is defined and WHAT a member may do.

How about we ditch our FSGs (except for our statement of faith) and just go under the CF site-wide rules and these congregation-wide guidelines until the Progressives and formers have their own forum?

It would save us a lot of what we're seeing right now and after the dust settles we can discuss FSGs.

Sound good?

That's good idea.

But considering things don't move themselves unlike with the progs, we should just place a limit on who can debate rather than trouble them later on again.

Did I understand you correctly Lainie?

I think if we stopped all debate in here for a while we'll discover:

1. We may LOVE it and go to other places on CF to debate if we feel compelled.

or

2. We'll see that we do want debate here, but from experience know what types of things we need to formulate rules against.

I think it's a good idea, but it's not up to me, so I'd like to hear what the other Trads say.
