  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Several year's ago in March of 2009, my family was going through a major transition as our home that my brothers, sister and I grew up in was taken away through foreclosure. We searched endessly for a rental home and something temperary until we could get back on our feet. Mind you, I am 32 and suffer from mental disabilties and this was very hard on me at the time. A friend of my brothers suggested we look at a large modular home in the country that was for rent outside of our town. Owned by an Amish man and his family of seven kids, we made the trek not getting our hopes up that it could be rented out. John Henry was very glad to show us around the home and it a couple of weeks we began moving in with only a few days to be out of the previous house. A blessing from the Lord had been answered! As we settled into Spring and started to know the Amish family across the road who was New Order which means they are more modern, life was slowly getting back to normal. One day while I was out in the giant front yard ( which is the size of a football field) kicking a soccer ball around, the two younger Amish boys across the road, watched intently from their yard. Jonathan, six at the time and Joel, 9, slowly made there way over. ( mind you the boys were very shy and for the first month or so they did not speak too me). Right there, in that front yard a friendship would develop that would change my life forever. Joel and I became fast friends and Jonathan was the tag along! Slowly Jonathan began to stray away spending more time with his little Brother Jeremy. Joel and I would our days swimming, fishing, bike riding, camping, feeding horses etc. Suddenly a year later on Easter Sunday I fell into a deep dark depression spell that would last for about a month and half. I did not wanna see anyone, talk too anyone or spend time with anyone. i was a mess and God seemed so distant too me. One day while I was sitting on the front porch trying to figure out my life, Joel showed up, trying to console me, hoping that I would be the friend that I was a year ago. " Why don't you go back to church." he said with a voice full of heart and conviction. I was unsure. I was not fond of God at the moment. On a sunday I decided to go along with my mom to her baptist church and little did I know my life would change thanks to Joel. I went to the altar and asked the Lord to come into my life and change my hardened heart. That day I accepted The Lord Jesus Christ in my life. Amazing. In early 2011 our landlord purchased a home several roads away as his son was getting married and our rental place was needed. We moved in and love it ! I have started to attend a new church about a mile away and love it . Every once in awhile i get a bout of mild depression but that comes with the disability. Joel and I have become inseperable. At 11 years old, he knows me better than anyone always putting me in my place when things do not go my way! We both enjoy riding the fourwheeler, campouts at my house, hiking and more. I have learned to adapt to his ways. Thanks too him he has shown me the true meaning of friendship. I am blessed to have this little guy in my life. Well done trusted and faithful, servant . You changed the heart of a guy when he needed a friend the most . I love you Joel. Thanks for everything. God Bless.
