I have accepted Christ 2 months ago and I've been asking our Minister for a Baptism. He said he will organise one within this month. He said in the old days they used to baptise pretty much as soon as you are converted but I wanted to be baptised by immersion in a river which is why it is taking so long because we cant find a shallow and clean spot by the river we are near. :(

I wasn't baptized for years after I was saved. I didn't know I was supposed to or what it meant. No one explained it to me, and I went to a Baptist church. Yeah, there were a lot of problems with that church, but at least they preached the Gospel accurately.

My initial reaction was I'm not completely saved until I'm baptised but I was told that if I'm saved, I'm a Christian. Baptism is good, as an external symbolisation, but it doesn't mean we aren't saved until we are baptised. But I kept asking anyway. :)

Aaand... :)

Spoke to the Minister yesterday. Looks like I'm getting baptised at the end of this month. Woohoo!!! :) :)

Why is there no option for ppl who were baptised as babys? It is a very common practice.

Personally tho, I wasnt baptised for a few years after becoming Christian, I knew it was a big thing and wanted to know more about it first so I studied Christianity for a while and baptism speciffically for a while before deciding. Now I am studying Christianity full time (Bachelor of Theology).

Long story short, don't feel pressure to rush it.

I didn't really understand about the whole born again baptism (adult baptism) Iwas also told that although I should do it I should felt as though I was lead from God to do it and when.

Great to hear that 2004 has been a special year for all of you!!

Any particular reason why you haven't been baptised yet, Nevada77?

My parents don't want me to get baptized yet, they want me to find a good church to 'settle' down into and stay there. Methinks that as soon as I hit eighteen and am off at college, this little froggy's going to get baptized..whether she swims or drowns! =) God bless.
