Note that this isn't acceptable evidence, because it cannot be independently verified, and there is, moreover, nothing to suggest that it is even necessary to improve our understanding of the world. This is verified by what we call a shadow and type. In this case they call it prison. It is filled with people who thought they were going to get away with something. Or people that did not understand Justice.
For me it is disrespectful. But if you think that is subjective and not objective, then that is what you believe.I mean no disrespect by it, but I won't budge on this silly nitpick.
WE prove the Bible to be true again and again and again.
YOU are the one that has never been able to prove the Bible is NOT true.
You got this backwards.
WE prove the Bible to be true again and again and again.
YOU are the one that has never been able to prove the Bible is NOT true.
For me it is disrespectful. But if you think that is subjective and not objective, then that is what you believe.
To what degree do you think we should be respectful of each others individual beliefs?
Oh, sorry, I did not notice that you were new. We go over this so many times on here. For over well 100 years people have been using science to prove the Bible is true. We can not prove all of the Bible is true, but we can prove a lot of it is true. For example the Temple in Jerusalem that was built 3,000 years ago. The foundation is there, so you can not say there was not a temple. The Bible contains a lot of historical accuracy. We can show that many many many things we read in the Bible are indeed accurate and true.Note that this isn't acceptable evidence, because it cannot be independently verified, and there is, moreover, nothing to suggest that it is even necessary to improve our understanding of the world.
Does this mean that all the events that occurred in Harry Potter are accurate and in 1000 years' time we should use it as a valid account as to what happened in recent history, just because the books happen to contain references to a completely real place known as London and happen to contain actions performed by completely real entities known as human beings?Oh, sorry, I did not notice that you were new. What about the law of Karma, that is built into the fabric of the universe and does not require a deity.I will not acquiesce to rules from a deity I do not believe exists.
With all due respect to the Wiccans I do not want to get into a discussion about witchcraft.Harry Potter
There is no such thing as a 'law of Karma'. At its most basic, Karma is just a restatement of Newton's Third Law. Of course, it is a bit more complex. But there is nothing that says that people who are 'good' have 'good' things happen to them. Just as not all 'bad' people have 'bad' things happen to them. What about the law of Karma, that is built into the fabric of the universe and does not require a deity.
This discussion (and the context in which the works of J.K. Rowling are used as evidence) have nothing to do with Wicca or witchcraft of any sort. It has everything to do with admissability and verifiability of sources, and skepticism. Stop dodging and either acknowledge the point or show how the analogy is false. With all due respect to the Wiccans I do not want to get into a discussion about witchcraft.
Now you want to compare Greek Mythology to the Bible? I think I will just go along with the consensus of the vast majority of the people and say that your opinion is very very much in the minority. You most likely do not believe your own arguement. Unless you have never read either one.Or, to cite a more temporally proximal example, the fact that the Odyssey talks about Troy and Greece, two places that have been verified to exist, does not mean that Cyclops, muses, and the Greek pantheon are real also.
What about the law of Karma, that is built into the fabric of the universe and does not require a deity.
Aside from this being a horrible argument ad populam, again: stop dodging from the point and either acknowledge I am right, or point out why I am wrong. Now you want to compare Greek Mythology to the Bible? I think I will just go along with the consensus of the vast majority of the people and say that your opinion is very very much in the minority. You most likely do not believe your own arguement. Harry Potter has NOTHING to do with witchcraft? Yeah right.nothing to do with Wicca or witchcraft of any sort.
I just did, you do not know the difference between the Bible and Mythology. So you have a lot to learn.point out why I am wrong.
Really there are no consequences?I don't believe in karma in the same way I don't believe in god.
