GOD doesn’t create things in confusion and chaos as the Hebrew words tohu and bohu that mean chaos, desolation or wilderness. Everything GOD creates is very good. Given your understanding that Earth existed prior to the Genesis narrative consider that the rest of what we know as the universe was not created until the 4th day; the sun, moon and stars. This would mean the Earth is the oldest thing in the universe. People think the light of that first day was the sun but this cannot be because it wasn’t created until the 4th day. The first estate of the angels was the previous Earth in which one third of them left to ascend to GOD for the purpose of rebellion which failed and they were cast down on the Earth resulting in its devastation. The division of light from darkness was GODS separation of the kingdom of GOD from the kingdom of Satan. Yes, there are other scriptures that relate to this. There had to be a reason why Satan rebelled. It was his pride in his beauty, his vanity and he discovered that GOD was going to make a man the heir of all HIS creation he lost it thinking he should be the heir so he tried taking over but lost. Jesus was GODS heir. The idea that Jesus was GOD the creator defies the meaning of being the heir. If you created all things how could you be your own heir ? The FATHER, the only true GOD, John 17:3 , HE created all things and HIS son, Jesus, is HIS heir. We, the saints share in the inheritance of Jesus.
