I go once a year or when Ive fallen into mortal sins which has been like way to often the last year as Ive struggled greatly at times with a certain habitual sin :(

I pray that I stop being so stubborn and just surrender myself to the Holy Spirit at some point.
I know I have all the tools to cope with any temptations coming my way as long as I let The Holy Spirit guide me and help me out.

About twice a month. Whenever I have a mortal sin, I go. However, I also go frequently to confess venial sins; which, while not absolutely necessary, does strengthen the souls with immense graces from the abundance great mercy and grace of our dear Saviour Jesus Christ.+ Laus Deo.+

I've been going about once every 2 months, but feel like I should go more. One priest at my church says to go every 2 weeks, another every 6 months. That's such a wide difference, I can't be sure what to do. I know you should go if you're in mortal sin, but what if you're just in venial sin?
Go to confession, even if it's only venial: one obtains especial grace from our Lord during the Sacrament of Penance for it strengthens the soul. This coupled with receiving the Blessed Sacrament afterward helps to fortify one's soul and put one on the path toward getting closer to Heaven. (Y) :)

When I was a practicing Catholic, I went bi-weekly, for venial sins. I left Christianity altogether a few years ago, and was an atheist for two years. Since returning to Christianity last fall, I haven't been back to confession, as I'm not practicing the Catholicism, anymore...but, sometimes, I wonder if I should go. Idk.

I was thinking about sins like drug addiction or alcoholism. (Not the case for me, but similar type situation.) Where it's a daily battle, and you're trying, but it's easy to slip up.

^^^this definitely! when you're distracted, pressured, etc. it is easy to slip up but when you're watchful and aware sin doesn't get it's hooks in so easily.

I'd say go for it! Jesus is full of light, peace, mercy, and kindness: He'd love for you to come on down and back to His Holy Catholic Church. :) Some of us have been down that road (that is of leaving the Church) and we've returned. I can imagine the difficulties of it! I know that I myself wasn't an atheist, yet I was paralyzed by my own fear for a while and my shame for having left. But God is merciful and it is never too late. Come on back! You're always welcome! :D
