  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We only have on service on Sunday (2 in the morning, one in the evening but they are basically the same) and we have house church during the week. Last week I missed house church for the first time in a year and a half (I was on vacation, the last time before that I was on a missions trip in Africa). I host the house church so it makes it hard to miss.

There was not really a poll answer I could choose!

:)

I have to wonder what is going on with churches these days. Maybe it's secular Seattle, but I tell you what, most of them do not have visitation programs.

We started attending a church in my area about a year ago, but the church is going though some really hard times. I have tried to cut them some slack, but I tell you what when you are asking someone new to give references to people they know within the church on the membership application - I have to wonder if you want that info, WHERE is your visitation program?!!?

We are now searching for another place, but I can not stand doing that when my husband can not attend the first time with me. His military schedule keeps him on duty most Sundays. I would prefer to describe his absence after they have met him, not before! Besides, finding a good church for your family requires a FAMILY effort.

:)

Until that time when we can go together, I will be "churched" online. ;)

just a word of caution to you - I don't know your reasons for wanting to be a member but there is no need to take up membership to be involved with a church body. You can attend until you feel you know people there well enough to put down as your references when and if you feel its right to be a member.

There should be an option for attending when the doors are not open. Well at least I know the sucrity system works. They realy need to lock the doors when the alarms set.

Now for the 'what are you doing at church in the middle of night'. I realy just love church. Ok, we just got back from a concert (where our veicle broke down, and blew raidiator fluid over four people. And where the girls (boys and girls drove seperate) got lost in the autoparts store looking for antifreeze, and then got the wrong type, and then could not find their way back to the store to get the right type.) I think you get the point. It was a laugh. Oh, it was a freezing cold night, and some of us forgot to wear even a jacket, and wore shortsleaves (did not think he would be outside for long) just about froze while we were waiting for the girls.)

I do know how to get the key and turn off the alarm :) For a while I was there so much I joked that they would put me on the payroll, then they did for running sound at weddings :) I'm not there as much now, I found myself getting too busy and burnt out. Getting overly busy at church stuff can be just as bad, if not worse, than not being there at all.

I can only think of one reason to have Church Sunday morning at 11:00, and it is to prevent the sinners from coming. Good sinners are usually sleeping Sunday morning.

Oh Yeah, and me too...

belive it or not the reason that we here in America chose 11:00 in the morning goes back to the time when there were alot more farmers than there are now. It was the best time between milking/feeding the cows, and tending to the crops.

If you study Church history you will find this out. :)

Have a bless day.

My church started out on a Saturday night, then moved to Sunday night, then expanded to add Sunday morning services.

I was out in Fayetteville, West Virginia this last week and asked around a few places about churches to find a place to go on Sunday. No one knew anything about any of the churches and one guy made the comment that going to church wasn't possible for many of the people living there. Church is on Sunday morning. Well, many of the people work in the outdoors adventure (rafting, kayaking, rock climbing) and tourist industries. Their busiest time is the weekend, including Sunday morning.

We've run into that some at our church, people who want to come but can't because their job requires them to work when our doors are open.

Maybe time for a lot of churches to consider that.

I go whenever we have services. Right now, that's Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and Friday nights. When I start the singles group, that'll be another night every week. I feel better when I'm surrounded by people who love God and worship Him as much as I do! :D

In His love,
Tink

I try to attend church on Sundays and on holidays, but don't always make it. I have been slacking off, but recently have begun attending more. I've switched to the Methodist tradition, but overslept the other day and missed the services, so I attended a RC service.
