  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It really varies on who you go with, where you go, how long you go for. An average is probably $3,000. This money is usually raised by the person going, by asking friends, family and the church to pitch in.

Raising funds for short term stuff is usually not too difficult, at least not in comparison to long term missions.

And if you do something in Mexico, it can be less than $1,000. There aren't expensive airfares so much then.

Nose around on www.ShortTermMissions.com. Do some random searches for places you'd like to go, and click on the trip information. It should tell you how much you have to raise.

The first one I found was $2,685, and that was for 1-2 months.

It depends on how long you want to go, where you want to go, what kind of ministry you'll do, what you lodging will be, and who you go with. Flights to India cost a lot more than flights to Peru, for instance.

All of my trips have been through the Assemblies of God. It was about $400 for a week in Houston (hotel), maybe $250 for a week in Dallas with my church (sleeping in a church on cots). About $1650 for 6 weeks in Peru and Ecudaor (hotels), and $350 for a week in Mexico (flight + home stay on cots). Going with my denomination (Assemblies of God) meant that some of our ministry costs were provided for by other missions offerings, reducing the cost of the trip (the 6 week trip in particular; if we had paid for the literature we distributed, it would have cost far more).

Hope that helps some.

That's what I've found as well. However, keep in mind that probably doesn't include airfare and other travel expenses as well as visas, innoculations and other requirements of overseas travel. Make sure you ask the agencies you're looking into about what expenses aren't covered in their fee.

Good luck! Let us know how your search goes!
