I thought I would make a new thread in here. I didn't see this thread anywhere on the first page (and I'm sure it is somewhere, so if you want you can merge this thread with that one).

So this thread is simple. How much do you bench press?

I bench 55kg or 121 pounds. I'm slowly increasing the weight. I started weights 3 years ago, so I need to step it up a little, lol.

I use in a workout, 1st set, 195x12-15 reps, 225x8-10 reps and finally 305x6 reps. I haven't maxed in awhile, should be in the low 400's.

Early Feb my max was 175 2wice.

Last month I managed 195 once, first time I benched more than my bodyweight.

I'm currently working with about 160 lbs. Did 4 sets of 5 @ 160lbs on 06.17, then 4 sets of 7 at 155lbs last night. Next workout is 4 sets of 6 at 160, followed by 4 sets of 5 at 165lbs. Basically, up the weight, drop the reps two times, then on the third workout, lower the weight, up the reps and start the cylce over. It was in Muscle and Fitness a month or two ago, seems to be working for both me and my buddy because our max's keep rising.

Anyways. I'm going to try for 205 or 210 next time I try to max. I'm confident I can do over 200 now though. It'll be nice to make the 200 club.

5'9", 189lbs, 19%bf.

I forgot to say that 121 wasn't my max bench... I haven't tried that yet. I normally do 3 sets with 15 reps.

Not for nothing, but high weight/low reps builds muscle.

If you can to the 15s you might want to raise the weight to something you can do 8-10 times.

 Agreed, find your max, then do a set of 15 in the 50% range of your max, then a set of 8-10 in a 70-75% range of your max and then a set of 3-6 with 80-90% of your max. It will pack on some size fast. Also works well with biceps and triceps.

Hmm, well I upped the weights today and did 65kg (143 pounds).

First set was 8 reps, just trying to work my way in. Second set was 12, and I got the hang of it. And then I did a third set of 15 but they were kinda pathetic ones at the end (not full extensions). Maybe I'll up it MORE next time and try 8-10 reps :)

I use one of those chest press machines that you load the weights on, and I can do 3 sets of 10 at 190 lbs. Since I usually work out by myself and don't have a spotter, I go a little lighter on the normal barbell chest presses. On incline bench press I can do 3 sets of 10 at 135 lbs. On decline bench press, 3 sets of 10 at 155 lbs. I've never tried to max out.

I used to bench press 380 lbs. I got 225 27 times as a personal best rep test. I hadn't seen the inside of a gym in almost 4 years and now I'm trying to get back into it and the other day I got 245 twice. I still weigh in at 240 but my % of fat has climbed from 12% up to 21%
