How much pain are Christians allowed to have? In other words, clearly people still have issues for example, just because I am a Christian does not mean that my father will just no longer be terminally ill. How much am I allowed to get upset cry ECT am I supposed to just be a rock because it is in God's hands?

You can be weak before God. Cry out to Him. Let the tears fall. He will give you peace in the trials. Don't be afraid to ask for a miracle of healing, God still heals people. Put it all in His hands and trust Him.

Someone around here has a good signature quote: God didn't promise everything would be perfect, but He promised He would be with you in all the difficulties.

Sorry to hear that your dad is terminally ill. He will go through pain, and the family will go through all sorts of emotions. God can still be with each person during this stressful time.

My parents died when I was close to your age. It seemed way too early, and no one was prepared for it. But I saw some good things in it -- they didn't need to suffer through a long aging process or chronic pain. Your dad will probably have pain, and will need people to sympathize, as it can be scary to face how soon your end might be.

Enjoy the time you have with him, encourage him to get paperwork squared away. Find out if he would feel more secure staying with a family member (if you're not all together now). Let restless energy do some good.

You might find your answers in reading the Psalms. There David cried out to God, wailed, criticized people, praised... ran the full range of emotions, and it was okay.

Remember that God is the one who invented tears and emotional reactions. He gets it. And He has had to watch an awful lot of people go through the dying process, and torture, and discouragement. You do not need to pretend that everything is fine.

Amen.

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ" (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).

"Jesus wept" (John 11:35).

As even He did.

"Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt" (Matthew 26:36-39).

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross" (Hebrews 12:2).

One should remember that when sin came into the world, it brought ruin in every form --death, suffering from disease and other sources, evil, wickedness, etc. God is ever ready to releave mankind ---conditionally if they will repent and bow to Him. Then salvation of the soul by the new birth in the Lord Jesus, the Christ of God, brings more than mercies, but much blessings and the special care of the new "child of God".

Note the special sufferings in heathen nations compared to relative good conditions in nations that profess and somewhat practice Christianity (this is Kingdom of Heaven --profession and christendom). Within profession there are the true saints of God who POSSESS the Savior and have a new life in Jesus Christ (this is the Kingdom of God). One can study this all out in the Bible. Write me personally if you wish to talk about specifics, friends.

"Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours." - John 15:20

They crucified him. A lot of pain can come our way.

In the meantime, to answer your question:

"[Cast] all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:7

I will surely pray for you in your suffering friend, and also for your father that he too will find peace in the Lord. I got so caught up in speaking of suffering here in my comments, and neglected to speak to your immediate need ---sorry. This world has and will suffer, and death is real, but we surely need "...the peace of God that passes all understanding". Look up!

God Almighty, Who is Love, never designed us to have pain, emotional or physical. Just look in the first chapters of Genesis, when God created man, the Bible says, that everything God created was very good.

The primary desire of God for us, who are created in his image, is to be without any pain, in body, soul or spirit. That is why Jesus healed so many times as recorded in the New Testament. That is why the Bible calls God, the God of all comfort. Look at 2 Corinthians 1:1-11.

God has promised us in the Bible to heal us in our body, soul and spirit, and to comfort us, because he cares for us. In the book of Revelation, it is written that God will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and that there will be no more pain one day. That is the desire of God for each of us.

Pain, suffering, and many other bad things happen, because many people have chosen to go away from God, and do their own things, and to sin. That is what many choose to do. In fact, most of the problems in this world, come from people, and not from God, because people choose to do the various things, which are negative.

Romans 15:13, Psalm 121:7, Psalm 46:1, Psalm 62, Psalm 68:19, Psalm 147:3, 2 Corinthians 1:3-11, 4:16-18, 7:6, 12:8,9,10, Psalm 43:5, Psalm 22:24, Psalm 119:50, Psalm 34, Psalm 42:5, Psalm 86, Nahum 1:7, Job 29:3, Isaiah 25:8, 30:18,19,20, 40:1, 41:10,13,14, Psalm 69, Psalm 13, Psalm 94:19, Lamentations 3:1-66

Huuugs and prayers (((hug)))
thanks the Hospice people are actually kind of cool bring supplies out, so mom does not have to make near as many trips to the drug store. She does some because he is not the only one on medications in this house. They even have services for us for at LEAST a year once he DOES pass next month, two years from now, anywhere in between.

It's nice that hospice has lifted some of the responsibility off your shoulders. It sounds like he is able to stay at home, which prevents all that jostling and unfamiliar surroundings.

Sorry that you are going through such a tough and sad set of circumstances.

In case he does get moved at some point-- I know people who went into hospice centers, and the family was so grateful that it was such a pleasant experience for the last months or days. Staff was friendly, and scenery was planned for comfort.
