How many "ologys" are there???

I understand that there are all new sections of this site. But whats with all the olgy stuff?? And what the how in the world does one determine which topic goes where???

There are probably hundreds of them, but only a few dozen related to Christianity. "-logy" comes from a Greek suffix having to do with knowledge. Contrast "-graphy", which is other kinds of study, such as haigiography, the study of saints.

Luckily, there's little "subtitles" to guide those of us (myself included) who can never remember all the formal terms; if you click on the main "theology" link, it has a list of the fora, and the descriptions of each.

Well answered seebs.

I didn't realize there were so many -ologys either...but I guess it kinda makes sense.

While the new names seem kind of long and confusing, the explanations of what goes in the thread (or subtitles as seebs called them) really helps sort stuff out, at least for me.
