How many Hours do you Prepare?

I just started in my first Pastorate and wanted to know how long you prepare for a single message. I am 29 with no seminary so it takes me forever to read, study, and get all my ducks in a row before I speak. It takes me about 5 hours a day for 4 days.

Just wondering how long it takes you?

My professor (I am a theology student) said that you should take at least twenty hours a week to prepare your sermon - so it looks like you're doing good The last sermon I gave took me about 35 hours all together.

That is what I thought. But you know it is some of the greatest times I have with the Lord preparing a message to teach. It doesn't seem like work at all.

Yeah - I have had that same experiance somtimes too. Then there have been other times when I've spent SEVERAL hours preparing, and I wish I'd had more time.

15 to 30 hours for a well prepaired messaged.

5 minutes for off the cuff (Lots of umms and ahhhs)

Remember you are to be prepaired in season and out of season.
