How many of us here have ever been called a "Bible-thumper"? What do you think of it?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes; the party that did it was very scornful and sarcastic about it. At first it hurt me, but then I reconsidered. Now I've gotten to where I think of it as a compliment.
In fact, I'd like to see that on a T-shirt!

Yah, can't see how it's anything to be ashamed of. We know the world pours scorn on Christ, so receiving some of that scorn in His name is a joy

I have not been called that since I don't use my Bible when I am dealing with non-believers. I use me as a Christian as my life as an example and when they are curious about my life, I will sit down with them and have coffee with them. The BEST Evangelist is the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ and as I talk, the Holy Spirit will work in a person's heart to be convicted. 1 Thessalonians 1:5 "because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake." John 6:29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one He has sent."

Being a Catholic who's considering a religious vocation, I've been called a churchy person, 'perfect', a nun, and a nun-Catholic (this last one is a joke title that my friend uses for me).
I prefer to call myself a theology geek.

I have been called many terms, bigot, hypocrite, Bible basher, Bible thumper, Bible humper (ugh), even apostate by other Christians for becoming Orthodox.
All rolls off my back. I already know I am the worst of sinners and I am a hypocrite. Nothing else can bring me greater shame than failing of the standard I should live to every day. Let the world despise me; I despise my own sins more than they can ever know.
