Funerals for both are planned for Saturday, Jamal said Friday night. Sadiya Sahal was five months pregnant, he said.

I heard they think that 5 more people are still missing,so it may be only 13. It seems amazing that it wasn't more than that.

A lot of different estimates claim that over 30,000 people die every day around the world due to starvation.

I'm sad about disasters such as this; it's terrible. But I wonder why so much more attention gets put on these things then the things that kill so many more people? I may sound kind of cold- but that's not what I'm aiming for. I think it's important to be aware of what's going on.

Perhaps you both missed the point- I maintain the unborn foetus was as much a human being as the mother and her daughter.

If 30,000 people die every day around the world due to starvation, imagine how many must die due to abortions.

My sons both live in Minneapolis, and not all too far from that bridge. One of them had driven over it about an hour before it collapsed.

Needless to say, he was little freaked out when he called and told me about it!


When it's all said & done, I think there will be about 15 dead - which is absolutely amazing, considering how many COULD have died. It was rush hour which, in Minneapolis, means bumper to bumper for miles.

But oddly - or providentially - the southbound lanes of the bridge were closed for repairs. So there could have been double the number of cars & trucks on the bridge when it collapsed!


And while I understand the whole reference to abortion, I'm not sure this is the appropriate time to bring that up as a discussion point. Some points can be lost because of bad timing.

Very true. Too many losses and tragedies, but that is the state the world is in. Prayers needed.
