YECs do.

I'm not a YEC.
So you feel that earth was here before creation week I guess. That leaves mankind as just a sort of recent guest here, and not part of the fist life created here? If not, do you have some idea of what it was doing here with no life before the universe existed?

The earth came into existence as a 4.57 billion year old planet -- or at least with some of its parts that old -- in 4004 BC.

It has only gone around the sun some 6019 times.

Which is one and the same. "Embedded age" is just magical nonsense.
There is no "embedded age," but everything including the universe was created in its maturity. Trees were bearing fruit, Adam was an adult man, fish were created in schools and birds in flocks.

Not according to the evidence, i.e. physical reality.

I use that term "embedded age," because I can't think of a better one.

I like what Adam Clarke says:
Adam Clarke's Commentary on Genesis 2:5 said:
It appears that God created every thing, not only perfect as it respects its nature, but also in a state of maturity, so that every vegetable production appeared at once in full growth; and this was necessary that man, when he came into being, might find every thing ready for his use.

I define "embedded age" as "maturity without history."

Oh, I see. I guess it would look that old to some today. My opinion is that they can't date stuff very well.

I agree with this. However, if I found out on the other side that maybe Jesus planted seeds and they grew in days in Eden and over the world, rather than planting big trees it would not bother me.

I accept God's word. Those who pretend to know better are conmen.

Except you have no evidence for actually positing anything to be be God's word. I know you don't, because you consistently claim we cannot trust any evidence.

I'm easy.

I'll give them what they want if I can.

If they want to claim the earth is 4.57 billion years old, fine with me.

I'll appease them.

But it just makes it harder for them to understand Genesis 1.

The thing is though, they still moan & groan about it, complaining embedded age is nonsense.

You just can't please them.

As to your point, I'm with you 100%.

I think their dating techniques are for the birds.

One of the reasons I don't claim to be a YEC is because I believe God did embed some age (or apparent age) into His creation.

Maybe not much: but Adam, for instance, came on the scene as a mature adult.

The problem I have with that idea is this:

All the universe is, anyway, is a great idea in the mind of God.
In order to perfectly imbed age into the universe, God would have to contemplate the past of the universe perfectly.
But that puts the past of the universe in the mind of God anyway, and since all the universe is, is a great thought in the mind of God, then the past of that vast, older universe remains as real as any other past, anyway.

So talking of "imbedded age" is mere sophistry.

With all due respect, it you believe that the physical world is the sum total of existence you lack understanding of reality.

What I belive is not important but the evidence clearly show an old universe. Your belief is contrary to physical reality.
