  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

to read the Bible?

1 to purchase the Bible and tell people about it
14 to look at it and confirm that it's the right version for their denomination
7 to repeat the above and agree
1 to pick up the Bible and chose a verse
2 to actually turn to the right chapter
7 to ask for the verse once more
5 to search for the verse in the wrong testament
3 to help others turn to the right page
3 to pretend they found the verse and wait for the pastor to read it
6 to not even bother with it
4 to read it in unison
19 to say that they have a different version
5 to share it with the neighbors
15 know-it-alls who claim they are theologians, and that the correct interpretation is in the NIV.
11 to defend the translations are universal and therefore state as irrelevant preference
36 to debate which version is best, where to buy the cheapest Bibles, what text is best for easy reading
7 to show off their Bibles
4 to ask them where they got it
3 to look through it
13 to reassure NIV is best
5 to say they're hungry
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "go to a Christian bookstore and see which one suits you best."
