I would say that a lifetime would be about the right length to pray for something, for after we are dead we cannot then pray.

it is good to remember a few things;
1. There is nothing that is too hard for the Lord to do.

2. Whatever it is, you want the Lord's timing on it, not necessarily yours.

3. God heard you the first time you prayed. So when you pray again, thank Him for hearing you, like Jesus did.
you can pray that if there is anything standing in the way of receiving your answer that it be released.

4. you can also pray that God will prepare you physically, mentally, and spiritually to receive the answer to your prayers. :hug:

Well, this is something I have to work on as well...

First, don't ever give up praying, that's what the enemy tries to get us to do so he can ruin everything.

Second, always realize that when you pray, you've got a direct communication line to God, don't ever worry that He doesn't hear you, He does.

Third, open your eyes, ears, heart, mouth, and spirit and be directed by the Holy Spirit to pray according to the will of God, even if it involves speaking in tongues.

Fourth, don't expect a given answer, God sometimes works in ways that man cannot understand, so look for even the smallest iota (jot)... it may lead you to that answer.

Wow, now I understand what I'm supposed to do myself! Thanks for the question, you helped me answer my own! :)

How long do you pray for something before giving up?

Well, it depends on what YOU mean by praying. Do you just keep asking God for something over and over?

Or, have you seen from the Word that this is something that God has promised to His children?

If you have that inward assurance that it is God's will, then after praying for it once............receive it by faith as done.

Ask God to confirm in His Word the particular promise to stand on, and anything else that may be needed.

Trust that He will lead you, in your inquiries, to hear Him on this matter, so that you can have utter confidence that you have received the answer, before it manifests.

Expect, that in many cases, that before it manifests in this natural world, your faith will be tested to see if you will stand, or let go of it. This is good. It stretches your faith to make it tougher.
