Fav sticks-- Pro-Mark
Electric kits- NO WAY unless it was mixed with an acoustic and it better be a top quality electric set

Been playing drums for 19 years (since I was 3)

Sticks -=- Either Vic Firth or Zildjian

Electric -=- Roland V-Drums are the only things I will touch. They are beyond amazing and make recording a lot easier. Plus, being able to edit sounds is awesome. You can get that just right sound for any room if you take the time to edit them.

I just did a sweet drumming workout, i used a different kind of stick, its called a Blastick, its like hotrods except its got several hard fiber rods with no binder in the middle to hold them together. like a stiff brush, playing with these requires a ton of power to get the sound out. they just flex out of the way and dont damage your heads.

I have played since 92' when I started learning, took a 2 year break in 96-98 and now I play for the church's praise team. I have a 5 pc Tama set, Zildjian cymbals, LP cowbell:jamblock, chimes, all muffled and using cool rods mostly. When I go crazy, 5b's from either Vic firth, or whatever feels good. I have some graphite sticks and brushes that I rarely use. My daughter has a beginner set by Hohner, cheap cymbals. She is already getting some hard beats down. 1 month of learning! We both like electronic drums for the ability to make different sets and sounds readily. Pads now can really respond with very quick action. I am learning bass as well.

If anyone in the northern Va are wants to hook up and write stuff, that would rock

Umm... I guess about 4 years.

I don't really know because I didn't take up drumming as a serious instrument at first; I just wanted to learn some basic beats to practice guitar over. I kinda got addicted after a year or so and really decided to LEARN them.

Right now I still have my first kit, which is a Peace, but in the next couple of months I'm upgrading to a Premier Artist Maple kit in natural finish :) I play a 7 piece kit normally, but the group I'm in right now isn't into big kits and showing off quite like I am, so I'm only playing a basic 5 piece right now...

.. argh. just the thought drives me up the wall.

I like 5As, mostly cuz i learnt how to play with them. i can use any type with ease, but of course i like the ones i started with.

Electronic drumsets? awesome. thinking of getting some myself. You can control the volume to your liking and no loud banging from ur basement anoying people in ur area, specially if u have an apartment. Love em.

blah! i've played electronic for 3 years at my church and i will say that i've had NOTHING but trouble from them. they're rolands but not the roland v's. i've had a little experience with the v's and i think they would be great in a studio but i don't know if i would like to own a kit. of course, a guy down the road from me owns a kit and he can do so much cool stuff with the triggering system which i think's an art in itself. just look at akira jimbo.

hey, wanderin how long some of my fellow drummers have been drummin. wht's your fav brand sticks, and wht do ya think about electric drumsets?

fav sticks: vic firth

Hey Drmin,

I just got finished posting a li'l rant in the Pearl vs. Tama thread. Check it out. I've been playing for 16 years, give or take a few. I'm playing semi-professionally right now since I'm back in college. I would tell you to check out my band's website, but it's been horribly neglected for a loooong time (www.treefrogonline.com).

I've switched back and forth from Vic Firth to many different brands of sticks over the years, but I always go back to Vic...

Electronic kits basically stink (yes, even the Rolands). They serve their purpose in some situations, I suppose, but I've advised many churches that it would be cheaper to put the existing accoustic kit inside a plexiglass booth and mic it than it would be to purchase a set of Rolands. This approach will make the drummer much happier, as well, since there really is no equal to playing a "real" kit.....

Peace

I played for about 7 years, then took a 7 year haitus (college) , then came back to them in 2000 and still playin'!!!

Like Vic Firth sticks, Tama\Pearl drums, and Zildjian cymbals. Never played an electronic set till three years ago for our worship team. I took one look at that set and said...

But, it took me about 6 months to get totally comfortable with it. Considering it was either that or nothing, I adjusted... ;) Now I don't mind it at all.

All things considerd, I don't think the Lord is really concerned about my preferences of drumkits anyway :D

September marks nine years for moi. My fave sticks are pro-mark... but in particular the Lightning Rods and Hot Rods. For sticks I choose 7A's.

Electric kits? Blech! I would prefer a keyboard loop over electric drums anyday.
