Regarding the recent Annapolis, Md. Shootings, the inevitable question will arise – how could this happen, why and who is to blame? The anti-Second Amendment liberals will scream for more gun control, but that will not solve the problem.

The problem, in general, is our God-less society and its lack of moral values. In his book, "The Roots of Violence", Rev. Vincent Miceli, predicted all of this. He said that the tap-root of violence is a God-less society. How did we get this way? Well, we can start by blaming the Supreme Court which took prayer out of the schools over 50 years ago, which struck down all the laws supporting moral values, and who gave us the infamous Roe v. Wade decision.

We can blame all the atheist groups who want to take God out of society – the ACLU, the Freedom from Religion Foundation, all the “Right to Die” groups, etc. A hearty “well done” to all of them – they have done their job well. Satan is most pleased.

And let us not forget those who promote the “Culture of Death”, such as the Democratic Party which supports all the moral evils condemned by the Bible, especially abortion. Let us not forget the entire abortion industry, especially Planned Parenthood and their efforts to champion a woman’s so called “right” to kill her unborn child. But some will say that abortion is “Legal” so it is OK, right – wrong. Just because a certain action is legal, doesn’t make it right. I would point out that from 1933-1945, in Nazi Germany, it was “Legal” to kill Jews. Ask a Jewish person if the Holocaust was OK, because it was legal.

So the result of all of the above, is that we have created a culture that has no respect for human life. If we can kill the child in the womb, why can’t we kill it after it is born (such as partial-birth abortion), or when it is a week old (child euthanasia - Belgium 2002), or a year old, or 20 or 30 years or more old? What is the difference?

And then there is one more person we can perhaps blame, and to know who that person is, all we need do is look in the mirror, and ask ourselves how our lifestyle has affected this problem. We have become a materialistic, me-first, morally bankrupt society, interested in our own personal pleasures.

So let us not ask who is to blame, until we ask ourselves what is our attitude toward this problem. Until we put God back into our society, things will only get worse. Are we working for the Culture of Life, or are we working for the Culture of Death; or are we just indifferent to it all?

The believers following Jesus cannot change the wicked of the world who are blinded by the prince of darkness, deceived (the whole world) by pharmakeia. Note that almost all, if not all, the 'shootings' the last 40 or 50 years that made the news in the usa were being treated by the world system and/or had been taking or were taking mind altering medication prescribed by the world system. (that changes the balance in the mind in ways contrary to Jesus Healing Ways).... Sometimes this was headline news, or at least it was published, but mainly it has been dismissed / hidden by the system that profits from it.

People in the United States are 10 times more likely to die of gun related deaths than people in other developed countries. CBS News:
How U.S. gun deaths compare to other countries

Gun fanatics do not want strict gun control laws that lowered the murder rate in other countries. In Germany not just anyone can get a gun. There are universal background checks. Australia banned semi-automatic weapons and watched their mass shooting rate plummet.

Isn't it amazing that the one thing we've never tried is the one thing most people seem to think wouldn't work.

The problem, in general, is our God-less society (snip)
Or it's not. Also something to consider. :)

Well written and well said.

What has happened since the Counter culture generation is their progeny have embrace nihilism.

A Nihilistic society with money and guns in hand is dangerous. Don't get me wrong I am a Veteran and advocate for protecting our Constitutional rights. We do however face a society which is not moral. And as it was said over 200 years ago, the US Constitution is for a moral people.

Yes, abortion is what causes people to carry out mass shootings. If only we would put women and doctors in jail that participated in abortion, would crazy people stop buying guns and using them to kill people. That makes sense.

These shootings began in earnest with the Me generation, and the cultural revolution that purposed the existence of the individual as being all about self-fulfillment.
The influence of that ideology is pervasive.
This has bred a narcissism that has taken a hold of us all, to one extent or another.
The ultimate narcissism is to believe that people exist not as individuals in their own right, but as objects for our own personal fulfillment. Some people enjoy killing those who have gotten in the way of their sense of happiness and fulfillment.
What is required is a counter reformation of the libertine values ushered in by the sexual revolution. Christ teaches us that our ultimate fulfillment lies not in our own fulfillment, but in laying down our lives for others. Our highest spiritual fulfillment is to be found in love.

It is our choice. We can believe in that, or dismiss Christianity as being all about believing in unicorns and tooth fairies and other fantasies.
But not believing in Christ teaching about where our fulfillment lies is to fall prey to the narcissists and nihilists among us, and within us.

It will never change, only morph.

People love to hate each other too much. Besides, Americans are already dehumanized against each other, so no one matters enough for there to be change.

It is deeper than disgruntled non-hyphenated Americans committing mass shootings.

Less violence reported.

That only speaks to corruption of knowledge and truth, as well as the psychology of faith in human authority.

The abortion shooting divide is one of the largest ironies in politics.

About 30,000 people are killed each year by guns, but about 600,000 a year are killed by abortions.

It takes a special kind of thinking to believe that guns are more dangerous than abortion clinics.

Violence is more likely to be reported today as anytime during the history of the US. As media sources expand and social fears pass people feel freer to report acts of violence.

Yes, computers have allowed law enforcement to document and share information quite quickly.

The problem, in general, is our God-less society

If the problem is simply a Godless society, and not about gun ownership levels; you would imagine somewhere like Indonesia with a population that's higher than USA, a population density massively higher than the USA, the highest population of moslems in the world; YET they have a murder rate of 0.5 and the USA is 6.5. per 100 000

How can that be? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
