how long was paul in the desert before he began his ministry ?

some say three years. some hold he was in the desert much longer, and "three years" refers to the stay in damascus

Gal 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
Gal 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
Gal 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

is there any other relevant scripture ? i cant think of any !

i have heard teachers say : 14 years. how do they come to that number ? any biblical or extrabiblical evidence ?

I'm not real sure, but I have understood it to be three years. I have heard that the twelve were under the ministry of Jesus for three years and so was Paul. Like I said though "I'm not real sure" but there are lots of people here that will know. Good luck.

Galatians 1:18 is the Scripture to check. It refers to 'after three years' but it does not say that he spent the three years in Arabia. We would probably like to know more about this but have to accept that the Scripture only tells us so much.
