My aunt was induced and her entire labor lasted 3 hours! My cousin (not related to this aunt) was in labor for 3 days, but she was 17 and they admitted they wanted to teach her a lesson.

Yeah, depends where you are counting from. With my first I had contractions from the Saturday but they weren't even uncomfortable, I could just feel a tightening. On Sunday they started gettong more regular and we got to the hospital at 7pm and she was born at 2.42am Sunday morning after 20 mins of pushing. So I was in labor in the hospital for about 7.5hrs. I would say from the "we are definitely having this baby today" time to when my daughter was born was about 8.5hrs and the contractions only ever got to the intensity of "uncomfortable". My second was a whole other ball game. He came very fast and the "we are definitely having this baby today" time until the delivery was only 1.5hrs. We almost didn't make it to the birthing center on time and he was out in 3 pushes. Labor number 2 was mush more painful than number 1 but he was also a huge baby (9lbs 12oz/21.75in). You just can't tell before hand how it's going to go.

Hopefully that just means that they didn't intervene to speed things up... if they deliberately slowed things down, that's ridiculously irresponsible

It's not as bad as it sounds, most of the time. I always thought 'labor' was one consistent pain level throughout, and I couldn't conceive of 24-36 hours of it But then I learnt that there are various stages of labor, and various pain levels and frequencies with each. And the most painful is generally the shortest!

My water broke and i went into labor lasting 8 hours till the baby came out. I had an epidural, and that was the most painfull part! I am not looking foward to it again, but at least this time I know what I'm expecting.
