We do 10 am to noon give or take 30 minutes each way. I'm usually in children's church, but in the main service we praise God then have teaching then communion. I enjoy grownup church a lot. However, children's church is the bomb. We sing and dance and yell and learn all about the Kingdom and Jesus and sometimes we throw water-ballons.

We are the process of changing our service times so I will tell you both.

Old Service Times
9.45-Sunday School
11-1 Worship Service
6pm-8 Evening Service

New Service times
10.45-Sunday School
12pm Worship.

We are not putting any time limit on our new service because we are going to not have an evening service, to have to come back to church to that same day.

Also after our 12 pm service is over probably at 2 pm, we are going to have a Fellowship Dinner where everyone is supposed to bring a dish.

Normally on Wednesdays we have Bible Study but now we are going to just have church.
So we will no longer have a Teen Class on Wednesdays , it will be on Mondays.

We are trying this for the month of August to see how it works.

Always Gina

Hi Gina.
One church that I attended had a very multi-ethnic congregation.
The Fellowship Dinners were awesome. There was a variety of dishes from practically all over the world. :)

Thanks,
Ed

I heard the funniest story once..............

Two little old ladies, sisters, would attend their church every sunday morning and sit on the front row. The oldest sister would wait patiently for about 20 minutes, she would then begin to nudge her sister and ask her what time it was. Dutifully her sister would turn around in her seat and look at the clock, which was just above the door in the back of the santuary. They spent the rest of the services with the younger sister checking the time.

It just so happened that the church had a portrait of the paster made and took down the clock and replaced it with the portrait.

The next Sunday, oldest sister asked younger sister what time it was. The younger little old lady turned and looked and turn back and just sat their saying nothing. The older sister became impatient and elbowed her, asked her again what time was it.

Her sister said, "I don't know, they took down time and put up eternity."

I'm curious...those of you here who go to church regualarly, how much time do you spend there? I'm not talking about events like socials or Bible studies that happen during the week. But..on SUnday, how long does your service usually last? What do you during the service? What do you do before and after?

I attend both morning and evening services on Sunday. Morning service, including Sunday School, lasts about two hours. Evening service lasts about ninety minutes. During all services, we sing and praise God; publicly pray over individual prayer requests; take the offering; listen to the sermon; give an altar call for unbelievers, backsliders, and any Christian who wants to settle an issue with God; allow time for prophetic messages; sing another song; brief reminders of whatever upcoming event; final benediction; and lastly dismissal. Before morning service, I try to wake up. Between morning and evening services, I just do "whatever".

As a follow up to your story - why does blue chicken give you horns?

I'm often down the pub for an hour or two. I play online for an hour or so every other day. I chat to the comic book guy for an hour or two a week... other stuff happens... play with my kids... so I guess my meetings last 24hours, 7 days a week... or perhaps I have none at all.. depend which way u look at it.

Our services last 1 hr, 15 minutes with a break between services.

we begin worship by standing and singing three worship songs and a prayer by the pastor. The words to the songs are presented in power point with attractive backgrounds where everyone can see. No hymnals to fumble thru. the music takes 20 minutes. after that we sit down and the pastor takes 5 minutes to welcome any newcommers (no one has to stand up or be introduced) and then we have 10 minutes where we go around and greet each other. there are usually 250 + in our services, so it take a while to see everyone. this is also the time for any bathroom breaks, water trips, etc.
then we sing a short chorus from the last worship song and sit down.
Now we're about 40 minutes into the worship service. Our pastor preaches, using printed hand outs for the congregation where we follow the power point screens and fill in the blanks. No sleeping or boring sermons allowed! The sermon usualy lasts about 25minutes. then the ushers are called up, our pastor prays briefly, and the collection is taken up. Our pastor announces every single Sunday that we DO NOT EXPECT any of our guests and visitors to contribute---that's not why we asked them to come! We sing a short chorus and that's it!
