How lewd is Sims 2 going to be?

Casual gamers are ruining everything.

Hey, I resemble that remark! I used to be a hardcore gamer, but then I got married and had a kid.

Anyway, I too am upset with the trend toward more sexuality in video games. There was even an article in the latest EGM about upcoming games that feature nudity. I was appalled. Do we really NEED nudity in video games? Seriously. The internet is already littered with pornography. Television is showing more and more. If people really need to get their jollies from pixelated nudity, they've got a problem.

I understand the idea that if you don't like what's out there, don't buy it. I plan to do that very thing. It's the main reason I won't buy games like GTA or even FFX-2 (and I'm a huge FF fan, but that game is all about showing as much of those girls as possible without showing it all). But I think that the game developers and the system makers should try to take a higher road and not let video games get sucked into the sex market.

But alas, I think it's too late. We already have BMX XXX, DOA Beach Volleyball, FFX-2, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, GTA, Rumble Roses, etc. :(

Making separate versions of the title for sexual preference is actually a violation of federal law. It is segregation. My personal belief is if some one pays for the product, they are entitled to use that product within the legal boundaries of the software license and state and Federal laws. No one is forcing the players to play the role of a homosexual sim. It is strictly the player's decision.

However, I do have to comment that I agree with punmanbowler's statement. When I play a game, I do it for entertainment, stress relief, etc. I really have little interest in seeing pixilated nudity in a game as it serves little purpose other than giving some loser a brief stint of excitement.

First off people who think in terms of hardcore and casual gamers are stupid.
Myself, by your standards, would be classed as hardcore since I'm playing games all the time and could whip out a gaming beatdown any time, any place.

Does that mean I suddenly start moaning at all the people who like gaming less than me and prefer to do other things, no, because there is absolutely no reason to.

And you who's ragging on FFX-2, I know this is a Christian board and your religion tends to force you to be prudish, but if that's all you can think about from the game maybe that's your problem, not the games.

Daniel,
As far as hardcore/casual goes, I don't really care, but I've found myself playing less and less. But I still love to play video games and try to keep up as much as possible.

Perhaps I do think of FFX-2 in unpure ways. But don't try to tell me that the producers of the game had no intention of making it sexually appealing. They know what they're doing. Also, it's not all I thought of about the game. I just noticed it when I did play it.

But man they aren't anywhere near naked, maybe not what your girlfriend would wear if they were going to meet your folks, but it isn't that bad.

Heck I'm a hormone charged Teen and you don't see me obsessing over their outfits or lack of, only their characters and the story they are part of, but maybe I'm just odd like that?

(I liked X-2, just not as much as FF7)

I am offended that you would compare FFX-2 to DOA: XB Volleyball. DOA is pure garbage, however, I am playing FFX-2 and I enjoy it a lot. There is no sex in that game. None. Just because they dress that way, you won't buy it? I find that quite sad.

EA is going to shoot for a T (i.e., PG-13) rating and try to avoid the M (i.e., R) rating. Most of this, of course, is going to come from sexual themes and nudity. As far as the simple nudity goes, such as shower scenes...it's just a human body.

Strictly in terms of content, since that is what the OP discusses, nobody seems to have mentioned one of the great things about this game: Very little violence. :)

I think you should really think again. There in many ways the same.

I really love playing Sims. But the thing is that if you don't make them do it they wont do it. So if you're worried about the sexual content dont make them do anything. For example your sims dont do anything you dont want them to do if they're not in freewill. I'm going to get ims 2 when it comes out and I'm going to enjoy playing on it. Because I know that i can play it without making them do unappropiate things.

I think it's neat they put that amount of freedom into the game. They really are trying to make a SIM life.

I wouldn't lead my character down some of those paths. You have to choose how you want your character to behave, just like in RL.

I just wouldn't let a little kid play it.

Guys, it's as lewd as you want it to be. Yeah, there's options to do bad things. You know what else has those kind of options? Life.

If you don't want to see the sexual content in The Sims 2, it's very easy to just not have sex in the game..unless you want to make a child. Of course if it's like the first Sims, you also have the option to adopt a baby.

You don't have to WooHoo (unless you want to have kids that carry your genes, which is a new feature compared to the first Sims). I don't see anything lewd about the game, unless you don't like watching two computer generated sprites move about under the computer generated covers of a computer generated bed.
