That's the comparison I'm trying to make -- what diseases are you talking about? One in tiawan (sp) that went in the brain and kils fast, no vaccine for it. Plus compare to the other things we have COVID is not that deadly.

Most all places in the U.S. with stay at home orders allow people to go outside for exercise/fresh air, if you merely keep some distance from others, no closer than 6 feet typically. (of course if you are coughing or sneezing, everyone wants you to stay at home, but few of us are now)I don't know the name of the disease but the Scientists I was watching on a documentary about the movie Contagion said that they were thankful they stopped the virus in Taiwan because it was much more deadly than anything they had seen. Even the flu has no vaccine, the flu shot is not a vaccine just a shot from last years flu you can still get the flu and die from it after getting the shot.
There is no reason we have to be shut up like criminals in our homes. We can be smart and not touch our face, wash our hands, and wear mask. The government is not going to save us from the virus, as we learned how not to get the Spanish flu, the Swine flu, etc we can learn here too. Really I can't stand this no more and am at my breaking point I want my liberty and freedom back
Compared to the deaths the US sustains annually due to other illnesses we are looking pretty good...but deaths are never good. One big question remains and that is how will everyone fare with the new economic conditions. I'm hearing poor economic conditions are responsible for thousands of suicides and many more due to poverty related illnesses. I pray for the best, but fear rough times ahead for awhile. May God show us mercy and great kindness and grace. Is there any good news? Please refrain from blaming anyone. Thank you.
There is hope. God calls sinners to repent. Corporations are developing treatments, drugs and vaccines. People will develop immunity. China is open for business. South Korean factories are open. They overcame the epidemic; others may do the same.Is there any good news? Please refrain from blaming anyone. Thank you.
Er.... What?WOW I've never seen someone misspell anger and sadness so poorly I mean you used one word for it, please spell check.l
Not well. Our influence jumps over Canada and pulls in Alaska.Depends on what your criteria is. I've been looking at statistics and the only truly reliable number is deaths per million of population. But even that is skewed slightly. Comparatively, the US is doing fairly well.
I thought they had.Everything's mostly normal here, except the wet market hasn't had any bat lately.

I wore a mask to the store for the first time the other day. Miserable... I used a bandana folded over twice and it kept sliding off the end of my nose. I probably touched my face more just fixing my mask. In addition to that, I realized you can't wear glasses with them because your breath fogs up the lenses. I can wear a real mask, but I'm super self-conscious so I was looking for something a little more subtle. Oh, well. There may never be a vaccine. There are many deadly diseases deadlier than this that have no vaccine. We have to be careful like no touching our face, wash hands often then, face mask (I am going to wear a clown mask) and enjoy life.
Sure their is. Despite everything the world does to stop it. Wars, plagues, chaos and tumult. The influence of the invisible kingdom of God’s continues to grow in the world. As evidenced not just by the numbers of people accepting Christ. But also evidenced by the fruit of the ever growing free world and prosperity. In other words. The living water that comes from heaven’s throne is slowly but surely healing the nations. Is there any good news? Please refrain from blaming anyone. Thank you.

I have enjoyed seeing how people have improvised and some changes have been kind of fun. I mean, never in my wildest dreams would i have thought I could basically dress as a bandit to go buy groceries and not get arrested!!It's been fun to see communities pull together and find ways to stay connected (probably more connected than before, ironically). This is such a unique time in history - kind of a throwback to old days in some respects but at the same time using the newest technology.
Yet, underneath the novelty of it all there are occasional reminders that things are not all good. On my way to the store I passed a vehicle that had "Emergency Oxygen" on the side. Not sure where they were going, but it is a sobering thing.

The New Jerusalem
New York -- the denest city with the most imported cases and biggest outbreak, that was the U.S. epicenter, has very competently managed the crisis with great innovation and effort, with very good management from Govenor Cuomo. And New York has gotten through the worst peak, though daily deaths are still quite high, and were recently revised sharply upward as they have just begun to count about 300 per day of deaths they had been missing (and there are more also no doubt that haven't been counted).
New York has shown we can do it.
While many other regions are still approaching their own peak times, but we've shown we can do this, as well as can be done at this point after the lengthy delays in February and March getting started.
It looks like we can hold the deaths in a neighborhood like 100,000 or less (even perhaps under 70,000 (remembering the difficulty in accounting for all the deaths that weren't diagnosed but look to have been from this virus)).
We could have this good outcome if we don't have new large outbreaks that are allowed to build.
Another great piece of news from a while back: the very quick test (5 to 13 minutes!) machine developed by Abbott lab is now in use in many places (though still limited in many places by lack of testing reagent cartridges the machines use). Therefore it is possible we could choose as a nation to buy more of these quick test machines and put them to work in more places in a big way (with large guaranteed contracts for instance), which would help a lot in tracking down new infection better, saving more lives.
The good news is that this kind of big expansion of rapid testing has become a possible thing we could do, if we choose to do.
So it's possible to transition to a good situation like South Korea -- where people can work, and widespread testing and contact tracing keeps the general population safe to a large degree (far better than we have had).
Our stay at home effort that has slowed the virus greatly (where people followed it), and these new technologies, make it possible for the U.S. to become successful like South Korea.
That's great news -- that it is possible to get to that better situation.
Ohhhh. Ok. I didn't grok thatI was refering to the fact that opening up will likly cause a second wave and a economic crash anyway.
