How is something like this even remotely possible nowadays?

There's a huge difference between a slip of the tongue (which probably reveals some latent, subconcious prejudice) and writing a whole racist essay.

Yeah,...don't overplay your hand.

His writing is enough for me to condem it, but it certainly doesn't rise to the level of "virulent racism" as you're so giddy to proclaim.

Overplay what hand? He wrote an essay condemning interracial relationships! There's nothing to over play - it speaks for itself.

And so do you.

There's a huge difference between disagreeing over racial relationships and virulent racism. You look foolish obsessing over this, thinking you've found some little treasure.

Wow. You don't think that being against interracial relationships is the same thing as virulent racism?

Very well then. We have no common platform on which to discuss the matter. I'm asking you nicely not to contribute to this thread any longer.

I have many black friends, liberal and conservative. Most think that marrying within the same racial group is the best thing to do.

Virulent racists? I don't think so.

Last comment in your thread by the way, so don't worry.

There is undeniable truth in what Mcswan said. If you want to find people who are wholeheartedly against interracial relationships, you don’t have to look much farther than your average black male. This is nuanced, however. As someone who has been in relationships with a number of black females over the course of their life, I understand the nuances involved. But I won’t go into them at this time because truth is rarely tolerated by Kings.

And I would consider them racist as well. I dated a black woman for a month or two. Most of my dirty looks came from young black males and older white people of both sexes.

I am against racism of all kinds from all sources.

There is also a large difference between making a personal choice about interracial marriage, and claiming that parents need to "to instill in their children an acceptance of appropriate ethnic boundaries for socialization and for marriage."
Not to mention his ideas that the media was "deliberately popularize miscegenation in films directed toward adolescents and pre-adolescents"
Or the idea that "The most serious implication of human sexual imprinting for our genetic future is that it would establish the destructiveness of school integration"

Sorry, but given what he has written I would agree that he is espousing racist ideas.

"Some of my best friends...", really?

Virulent racists? I don't think so.
To get on the same page, how do you define racism and virulent racism?

You seem to have different ideas on that then most people I know, so I won't really understand what you're saying until you explain it a bit (slowly, using small words, please).

Yes, some of my best friends are black. In your smug, self righteous world do you find that offensive? I've lived most of my life in majority black communities where we've raised our children together, shared our meals together, gone and vacations together, and worshiped together.

Living with and being friends with blacks is a not safe little academic exercise of 'feel good self righteousness' for me like it is for most liberals with arrogant attitudes; it's my life. I probably have more black friends than you have friends in total. So get over yourself and grow up!!:p

Hey if someone only dates someone of their own race because that's all they're attracted to, I guess that's fine. However if they don't date a particular racial group because they don't want to taint their bloodline, lol, then that is something totally different.

What? It's not like he's the Democrat choice for vice president or anything important like that, is he?

The man never ceases to amaze. With this other clown, at least people can know enough to not let him get into office, but Biden? We're pretty much stuck with the guy.... at least for another two years, anyway.

If I've over reacted to your comment, if your comment was meant to draw out real converstaion, then I apologize and will answer your questions. But I cannot hear that "Some of my best friends...", really? comment without going off on someone.

To be fair it kind of sounded that way to me as well, but I decided to focus on the OP. Do you disagree with my assessment of the statements in the article?

Same way the Democrats can keep electing a Klan leader, I guess.

No, I don't disagree with your assessment.

This is a difficult thread to post in because all the comments seem to be borderline fanatic. And I realize that I can come across that way at times myself, often because folks here don't know me very well yet and can't tell my sarcasm from my humor from my serious comments.

There are points this guy makes I want to defend, and there are points at which I want to say "Um...you're over on the dark side here, is that where you really want to be?"
