• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was addicted to chew for over 4 years. I loved it so much i did not want to
quit. But i knew i had to for Jesus and myself. I became more informed on the Holy spirit and how he could help me. One day i was doing my monthly clean out of about 30 tobacco tins from my room. I got on my knees and asked the Lord to remove all nicotine from my body. Then i asked him to deliver me from this addiction. I thanked him and took my full tins and started yelling at them "in Jesus name you will not hold me in bondage anymore!!! curse you! BE GONE EVIL CHEW IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!" as i flushed the tobacco down the toilet. AN important thing i did after that was ask the Holy Spirit to fill in the empty spot where the chew had left. If your used to something being there and its gone you usually have feelings of emptiness in that area. So it is important that you ask the holy spirit to "fill that void"

Hope that helps. Who ever need prayer just let me know! Bless you Gods children!

That is a powerful testimony that you need to share to those who are in the same battle.

The Holy Spirit is what delivered me from dual addictions. It wasn't as immediate as your experience, probably since the roots were much deeper as in years using, but over the course of a few weeks I too was delivered from bondage.

With tobacco, and all other addictions, we are powerless without the work of the Holy Spirit. "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness" Romans 8:26
