At a young age, I used to go to church with my mother, but I never really understood much beyond the concrete facts that I was learning in Sunday School. I knew that Jesus was crucified on the cross and was resurrected from the dead, but I never really understood the significance of any of it in my life. We stopped going (I'm really not sure why), but my life kind of continued like this up until this past May, when I was nearly killed in a car accident.

It happened that I was out storm chasing (huge hobby of mine), and I was the passenger. The person I was chasing with had taken a wrong turn was driving wrecklessly trying to get away from a storm which later dropped an F2 tornado, and he wound up flipping his car in the path of this storm. The entire roof of the car was smashed just inches away from our heads, but luckily both of us came out with only minor scratches. We were also in a very rural area, but the place where an Emergency Management person from that county was stationed was only about 50 feet from where the car flipped. They were able to get us out of the path of that storm (ironically enough, the tornado mentioned crossed the road in which the car flipped less than a mile from where the accident happened). Since it was night and about 5 hours from home, we were forced to be put up in a hotel. When I walked into the hotel room, the Bible was laying on the table opened to the 23rd Psalm, and there was a little card that read:

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind always be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm
Of His hand.

It may sound silly, but I felt, after reading that card and the Psalm and reflecting on all that had happened to me that evening, that an angel had written it especially for me. That evening very well could have been a lot more disasterous than it turned out to be, but, regardless of the situation everything fell into place and I could feel a divine presence keeping me safe that night. Finally, all of the factual stuff that I had learned at church so long ago made sense in a much deeper way in my life. God definitely held me in the palm of His hand that night. It doesn't stop there; He bleses my life everyday, and I know that He's got something awesome planned for my life.

So, there's my testimony. I know it's verbose, but it's such an important story to me, and I hope others have enjoyed my sharing of it, even if it's just one other. I want to thank you for taking the time to read this; it means a lot to me.

What a beautiful testimony. The saying you quoted is an Irish blessing that is a favourite of mine as is also the 23rd Psalm.
Jesus sure has His hand on your life. Stay faithful, through everything He will never fail or forsake us.

Even though I'm in need right now - I know without a doubt God is my only hope, regardless of how I feel.

Bless you loads for sharing.

It is truely amazing how God can leave exactly what you need to hear in the right place at the right time. I was sent a message shortly before I started my path as well.
