Not one reference to Scripture just an unbroken ridicule of a doctrine he knows nothing about. I'm glad the video was posted because it's a classic example of a secular cleric replacing Christian conviction with atheistic materialism.

He mentions 'blood atonement' saying that it was contrived about a thousand years ago. That is the only reference to anything remotely doctrinal and it's clearly wrong.

Good point huh? It's a pure undiluted mockery of the Christian faith and I'm appalled that Christians are not even concerned, let alone offended at this empty atheistic rhetoric.

The Fall and the Gospel: Theology Made Simple - YouTube

This is the same guys discussing a comparison of the Fall of Man and the Gospel. If you hear him out and listen to what he is actually saying he is putting the Gospel and Creation on the same level, which is the proper thing to do. Just one problem, the Gospel is an historical narrative. Here is where the Gospel and the Genesis narratives are inextricably linked and why Creationism is doctrinally vital.

Yep. Creation and Resurrection are equally vital to the whys and hows of the precious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The beginning is inextricably tied to the Divine Logos and God's redemption plan.

Change the beginning, change the end. Since the end can't be directly changed, the mode of alteration is the alter the beginning.

Mark, in all respect I think you've missed his point, however I also thank you for posting this video as well.

Here I stand I can do no other God help me.

He characterizes Creationism as being somewhere between sincere incompetence and insane. What this deprecates and disparages is that transcendent nature of creation with regards to the clear testimony of Scripture. If I seem dismissive of his treatment of the subject it's not because I don't see his point but because he never treated the essential elements of the Gospel in Genesis.

There is more the Christianity then liturgy, redemptive history is vital.

Grace and peace,
Mark

Redemptive history is there in both the literal and metaphorical reading of Genesis, to say that there is no redemption is to be divorced from any reasonable reading of the text and in fact is a paving of the way into the idea that we are essentially good, this is not apparent from either history or from the bible
