  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

At my church there is a little girl named Sammy. She is my daughter's best friend, they are six days apart. Sammy is also our pastor's great granddaughter.

The other day Sammy was on a field trip with school (not sure where) and she was swimming with a group. Sammy almost drowned that day, no one was watching, not the lifeguards, not the teachers. No one. Thank the Lord that one woman realized that this little head she saw under the water hadn't come up for a while.

What i have written here does not compare to the emotion and feeling when Sammy's grandmother told the story Sunday night at church.

If it had not been for Jesus, where would we be????

That's the question asked over and over again that night and i've been thinking about it a lot. If it had not been for Jesus, where would Sammy be?

Children drown all over the place all the time. Someone wasn't watching, the child was somewhere they shouldn't be. All the time. But Sammy was different then all those children, she's only 5, but she knows who Jesus is and her parents had her dedicated and given back to the Lord when she was born, and i believe because of this Sammy is with us today.

I heard this story Sunday night as i sat in my pew with my mother and my friend Kimberly watching my daughter and Sammy color and put on lip gloss. Tears filled my eyes cause where would she be if not for the Lord?
