I definitely don't recommend Windows 95. It's very old and obsolete. If need an older operating system, don't go any farther back than Windows 98. Windows 98 is a decent operating system but it has it's fair share of problems as well. Personally, I use XP Pro and I love it! I almost never get errors and that's even when the computer has been on all day long! I know of a number of people who have XP Pro who keep their computer on 24/7 and never have any errors! Of course, good maintenance will go a long way towards keeping any computer from spewing out errors every few minutes.

Hi I work at a Casino and all the slot machine are online so Jackpots and client records are accessed easily through...you guessed it PC's with Windows 95

It seems a little backwards.

it's like putting your hand to the plow but having to drag people with you who are not willing to help
install Windows XP Pro for all the internet slot machines at that Casion that would be your best bet :) since windows XP Pro is way more stable

I flushed ME down the drain, lol....I went out and got XP Pro and did a clean install because of all the problems with ME......As for windows 95, I wouldn't use it for going online with all the security leaks.......

 I'm sorry, but I don't think there is any way of compareing the 9x/ME line and the NT/2K/XP line of windows except that the NT line doesn't crash every 30 seconds like the 9x line.....Compareing XP to ME would put XP way on top as being the best OS Microsoft has ever released even with all the bugs it has....

Come on guys. Nobody asked you for your opinion of Me, or XP, or anything else.

The question was whether 95 was any good, and worthwhile to put on the machine. Who cares what you think of Me..? Me was fine if you knew how to use it and build machines. I've deployed hundreds of Me units without any problems. I've also deployed and maintained numerous XP machines without any problem. It all boils down to whether or not you know what you're doing.

Windows 2000 sucked. It was garbage as a gaming center. It was only good for workstation/server deployment. That was it's intended use.

So please, let's keep to the topic. Ok? :)

I'm not sure how to respond now that we have to talk only about Windows 95...It's easier to compare it to the other versions of Windows and talk about the strengths and differences...

Oh well...I guess that's all I can say now that we've been put into a box...

:(

How about sharing your experiences with Win 95? If you don't have any, that's ok. Nobody was forcing an opinion out of you :p

I used Windows 95 for a long time. I was always wowed with it after my experience with Windows 3.x The third or fourth revision of it was actually pretty good in it's day. The hardware and software support for it now would be terrible, but this is an outdated O/S that is long past it's prime.

there was one thing I did like about the original version of windows 95 that i missed in A B C D, 98, ect. And that was the ability to use 3rd party memory managers. Also I do kinda hate the IE integration involved in 98, 95 used alot less ram and it ran on slower machines better, if 98 didn't have the IE integration it would be a much stabler and much faster OS
