How exactly do I repent for my sins?

Depending on your denomination, maybe nothing at all. As a Catholic, I confess my sins to God through a priest, as described in the Catechism, based on the practice prescribed in the letter of James.

There are some Christian denominations which preach that once you have accepted Jesus as your savior, you have no need to ask forgiveness again. Again, as a Catholic, I believe that forgiveness is freely given, but only if we do ask for it and are actually sorry for the transgression against God. What it comes down to is this: God knows if we are truly sorrowful for our sinful nature or if we are living sinful lives in the expectation that our "belief" in Jesus covers all our actions.
Forgiveness IS given if you believe. God tells us that! Believe and you shall be saved! It is of course good to talk to God and tell him you know you've done wrong and want to turn away from your sin, and that's all you really need to do!

thanks guys! I just confessed all my sins to the lord, and have asked for a clean slate.

Amen

You simply ask Jesus to forgive you and try to live a righteous, holy life.

Not so . . .

I beg to differ w/ you . . .

If he or she is a Latin Rite Roman Catholic

One goes to CONFESSION . . .

" Believe and you shall be saved! "

Many folks do not realize that to fully " BELIEVE " you will have committed your WHOLE LIFE to GOD and GOD'S WILL.

That means from that moment on your will seek GOD in every decision.

When your heart TRULY BELIEVES then GOD will ANOINT you.

That is when you are BORN AGAIN and SAVED.

TRUE BELIEF IS TOTAL COMMITMENT!!!

It should follow that if you believe you will give your whole life to God - there isn't a reason why you wouldn't. So I guess I will agree with you, but I don't think we truly seek God in all decisions as we're fallen! It stinks, too. :( I wish I truly always wanted to please God. I mean I WANT to, but I don't always act on it. I hate this flesh!

You are very correct!!!

But there are some that say they believe BUT they reject JESUS because they wish to withhold certain things. I thought it would be good to clarify.
