What joke were you trying to make, exactly? I'm sorry, but what you said wasn't funny in the least to me. It just seemed obvious, to the point where I was wondering if you were confused.

Ahh yes, good old sleep paralysis. Yeah, once a "True Believer" has sleep paralysis, there is no way you can argue with them. I think it makes them feel special, they'd rather feel that they are so special demons go out of their way to attack them, rather than having a simple medical explanation.

Yeah, and here I was thinking, I'd much rather have a benign physical condition than be attacked by demons. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, one is clearly less harmful than the other.

What *really* makes me concerned though is that I was told that by several different people, none of whom actually had sleep paralysis.

To restate--there were a bunch of people who did *not* have any personal reason to want this medical condition to be supernatural, but were interested in supernatural things and liked talking about them. This cluster of most-likely-healthy was encouraging the one person who *did* have a recognizable medical problem to not seek help, and to continue believing he was being attacked by demons.

That's what really frightens and angers me. Especially when you factor in, well...sleep paralysis is pretty benign. Are healthy people who think supernatural stuff is cool doing this to people who have...schizophrenia? Paranoia? Dissociative Identity Disorder?

That just seems....cruel and evil.
