• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some people do just know, others do not.

I'm in the latter category. God seems to want some of us to struggle with this, whilst He presumably has other struggles for others.

Bottom line is I think it comes down to psychology.

You know God is real when you accept Him into your heart and receive the precious gift of salvation. I've seen many different people come into our church messed up, strung out on crack cocaine, addicted to alcohol, and some people even contemplating suicide. After repenting of their sins, and accepting Jesus Christ into their life, they are totally transformed spiritually and physically! They no longer take drugs, they praise Jesus for getting them out of darkness and bringing them into his light! Amen! And one more thing, I think the question for Why believe the Bible should actually be Why NOT believe the Holy Bible? My youth leaders once told me this. The Bible is like a history book, (since it was written very long ago), and like any other history book we believe what it says. Like in a history book at school, it would say George Washington was president, we believe he was president because it was in the history book. Just like we believe George Washington is president, we should believe what's in the Bible. And furthermore, alot of boils down to faith. You need to faith in Jesus Christ to know he is real and the one true God. If you would like to turn your life, if you're tired of living a empty life, then accept Jesus into your heart today. All it takes is one simple prayer: Jesus, I ask you into my life. I admit that I'm a sinner and that I need you. I believe you died on the cross and rose on the third day. I ask that you come into my heart and be with me from this day forward. In Jesus name, I pray Amen! I hope you say this prayer today! God Bless!

How does someone just know that God is real, without any reservation. Even when I did know terrible things still happened, now how can someone be sure?

Good question.

We know from creation, and from our own existence that He is real. And we know, too, from the reasons people often feel tempted to question. When we have doubts about God's love, or we keenly feel the suffering in the world, the reason people question isn't a rational reason, but an emotional one. In other words, it isn't because we truly doubt His existence; it's because there is suffering. The evidence is still there, but sometimes people want to doubt when they hurt, hoping there is another way. The other way is to see it from God's perspective, and that can do a lot of healing. So we can know He's still there because of the evidence-even while we're hurting.

I have tried so hard to Love God and worship him, but if He is there he doesn't give that love back to me like most people say he will.

Maybe part of it is understanding what love is. It isn't an emotion. It's a covenant faithfulness. It means He's sure to keep His word and promises, even when we don't see eveidence. It's a hard milestone in the faith to believe even when God withdraws His face for a while, but it is ever so important for the strengthening of our faith. And we really need that strength as we become more involved in the warfare of God's kingdom. The evidence of God's love is always in His faithfulness to His promises as revealed in His word, and He will comfort you. The comfort will come to you eventually. But this transition is important. Also, it might not be a bad idea just to check and make sure there is nothing standing between you and God in your life. This is great that you're looking for support in this time. Excellent choice. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying we'll be here for you.

There will be times when you won't feel God's presence. But not feeling it is part of loving you into great strength so you can be a powerful warrior for Christ.

Blessings,
Whitehorse

Yeah..mostly its a personal experience to make up your mind to believe God i real.
let me give an example, do you love anyone? how you know your love is real?show me the real shape of love and what is look like(can you)? For me, the answer is I know him/her and there must be an encounter occur between us before I can tell you that I love him/her.

or, there are plenty of oxygen surround you and trust me,you'd never see oxygen with your eyes. then why you believe that there are oxygen exist in everywhere and you need oxygen to survive? if you doubt that oxygen is real then all you need to do is stop breathing and see what happen next. I 'm sure your mom or doctor never teach you that you must take in oxygen the moment when you first came to world, but you still do it until now because you NEED it and there is no other way round.

so for me, the answer for "God is real?" is He change my life day to day through many personal encounters, and I need Him just as I need the oxygen He created.

How do I know God is real?

Because there isnt any other explanation for what I felt when I first encountered the Holy Spirit.

I had spend a whole weekend praying, but I didnt expect an answer.
Then one evening after praying I had a shower and when I came out of the shower I felt the most amazing supernatural feeling ever. I had never experienced this before and although the feeling keeps changing, this spirtual force hasnt left me ever since.

If God wasnt real then why would I feel like this ever since I excepted Jesus into my life?

And whats more is that the only other people who understand what I've described are other Christians.

I posted this in the testimony forum.

One night about 15 yrs ago. I had a very long debate with a very intelligent and convincing older man. He shook the foundation of my beliefs. I held my own because I knew the Word. But our conversation led me to question if I really "knew the truth"

The next afternoon I was praying, {face down in tears on my living room floor} Calling out to God. God I don't want to believe something just because I believe it. I have to know truth. Please don't let me be deceived.

"The irony of deception is those who are don't even realize it."

I knew this. Hence the prayer. While I was on the floor the phone rang.

My wife told me it was an old college friend. I had not talked to this guy in over 9 yrs. We went to school together in Massachusetts. I now lived in Texas, he was in California.
We used to party together. The last time I saw him was when I witnessed to him. He thought I went off the deep end and wanted nothing to do with any of it.

He explained the reason for his call. {short version} He was just about to commit suicide because of his circumstances, but said God if your real and I'm about to meet you, I have to know. What is truth? He told me God answered him and said," Call Vinal" {my name}
This was his story. He didn't know what I was praying.
He had to locate me. The timing of his phone call was perfect {divine} .

Only God could answer 2 prayers at the same time.

Isn't God awesome?

The seeds we sow may remain dormant for many years. God will water them when its time. Don't let it discourage you if you don't see immediate fruit from your labor.
He said, "My word will not return void."

I think that the reason its so difficult for me is because if there were a God then He must not care a whole lot about me cause im a mess.

Rabbit, it might help to look at the situation from different eyes. I will tell you this-God never promised us a trouble-free life as Christians. In fact, in some ways we will need to gird up and fight. But in some ways, it's true-we are spared a lot of trouble that the world faces. Without knowing more about your circumstances, it's hard to know what to say, though.

One thing that always works is to look at the situation from another perspective. Is there something God wants you to gain from this? Does He want to increase your faith through the hardship? Is there something we can do to help?

One other thing that might help. When we look at it through our own eyes, we tend to focus on temporary things. But God's purposes are eternal. I have a feeling this key will clear up the situation.

Sillyrabbit I know God is real because I have a one on one relationship with Him. I read my Bible everynihgt(at least try to) and then I pray and talk to him. The Bible is real because God has promised many things to us in it and all those promises have stayed true. Its important for us as Christians to continue our faithful walk with Him on a day to day basis. If we don't life will get harder. You will begin to become seperated from Him. I have been there and I was there for a long time till just a few days ago. I got all my problems finally from blaming myself to letting God handle it. There is just no way we can handle all our problems on our own. And once you have got God the first time you have Him for an eternity. You can do nothing to lose your salvation. It is a gift that can never be earned either if any one would like to PM go ahead. I am willing to talk about things with anyone.
