How does someone become a Christian?

Various churches will say different things, such as saying a "sinners" prayer, asking Jesus to "come into your heart" etc. But as Seventh-day Adventists, what would you say to someone who asks, "How do I become a Christian and get saved?"

God can lead a person into the salvation that is found in Christ through many avenues but since the Bible says the Law is perfect for converting the soul, I would start there.

A person has to see their need for a Savior before they can accept a Savior.

The Law points out sin and sin will be judged. How do they stand in light of God's Law? If they see their need, as it relates to God's Law, they can accept God's provison for that need, Jesus Christ.

I think your a christian if..you are a follower of Jesus Christ..you believe on Him..you trust on Him...you trust on His words..you keep his commandments..(this is just my point of view of being a christian)

And here's how my bible oxford defines a christian

The name may have been well applied to followers of Christ in the first instance by opponents. According to Acts 11:26 it was firrt heard in Antioch of Syria. By the time that 1Pet 4:16 was circulating, it was the costumary usage in Asia Minor, and the author seems quite comfortable with it.

And I think you'll be saved if...you look to God..believe in gospel of Christ..know the holy scriptures..look for Christ's return..

Christian means Christ in you.

From the plan of salvation, a person is called a Christian after repentance and the baptism of water and of spirit. At this point, you are justified. Justification is Christ's righteousness imputed to you.

We, Adventists believe the believer is saved at the end of the Christian walk. After being justified. Christ will sanctify (make holy) you. This is through meditating on His Word, prayer and witnessing. This sanctification process is for Christ righteousness to be imparted to you.

Then finally the believer is vindicated/saved in the judgment. This is glorification. Now the atonement is completed.

Salvation is a free gift to the one who accepts it. Everything else that follows is the fruit of salvation, not the means to salvation...

We all want/need love. Show & give love. When a person feels love they want to share it. Once a person feels loved, they will never forget it or want to let go of whomever loves them. Teach/preach & be Love. Let people know who loves you (Jesus) and help them get to know Him, what He was/is like, and when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Then the will do the asking, you are only the vessel. What a good vessel you will be-I see promise just in your questions..
