  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To me, it's the same kind of thing like marriage without the sexual intimacy, if you know what I mean.
It's a relationship. We talk to each other. We do things together. I love Him and He loves me. He is my love. We plan things, etc...
I tell the guys at work that I'm in love with a man and they look at me weird, then I tell them about Jesus.
He is the only satisfying thing that I know of. Everything else is nothing. It's so good that I don't even want or desire to go back to the old things because they don't satisfy.
John 4:14
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
Just as the Psalmist said, "The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want".
I don't worry about anything, money, food, shelter, job, clothes, etc... Matthew 6:25-34, because I know He's taking care of me.
I also love Him because He loved me first. He died for me and I owe my love to Him. He didn't have to do it but He did. He did it because He loved me. That's why I love Him.
He is everything to me.
We can know about Him but to "know" Him is the sweetest thing you will ever experience in your life. You can't beat it.
It is real, I'm experiencing it. It is reality in my life. (It took a long time to get to this place)
Thanks,
TT

That's what it means to me, but that takes a lot of reading and understanding of the Bible to know what his commands are. So continuing to read the Bible, praying for understanding, and doing my best to follow him is the best way I know to love him.

Jesus said "If you love me..." to Peter in John chapter 21.

As far as a practical guide, love is an action not a feeling for me. I would be in big trouble if I had to feel love for God. But I can do, to the best of my ability, the actions God says to do. Some days my ability is greater, some days it is very little at all. Jesus said the greatest of all commandments was, in part, to love God with all our strength. We are not commanded to love God with our neighbor's strength, nor are we commanded to do so with the strength of some guy on a televised pulpit. It is our strength, some people have more strength than others. So do your utmost, but don't worry about what somebody else is able to do.
