  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, so I was watching a certain minister on television. During his crusade he was claiming that many people were being healed of all types of illness, from mild to life-threatening.

Now, I have no way to verify the accuracy of his claim, but neither I am going to throw it aside as garbage. More and more lately, I have a feeling in my spirit that people DO get healed today --- of all kinds of stuff.

So, that brings me to my question.....

If one suffers from some afflication (and for the purposes of this thread, it matters not what the ailment is) and truly believe that God DOES heal, how does one go about receiving healing?

Should we act like people in Jesus day, travel many miles to seek out the Pope or whichever evangelist one follows, and reach out to touch the hem of their garment.

Should we perform certain rituals that others claim have affected healing?

Should we sit back and pray "thy will be done" and wait and see if God choses to make us one of the lucky ones?

Any ideas? All replies are welcome.

Oh, and please try to act like civil adults and avoid the bickering that seems to plague so many threads.

Personally, i'd pray for healing, wait for healing, and if there was someone laying hands on, or a healing service, i'd be there, the Church is not just me, it is made up of many.....so i'd go there. There is nothing like a faith filled believer praying for your healing when your sick!

Jam 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Jam 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

My family, meaning my wife and twin brother are both stricken with fibromyalgia. My wife also suffers a degenerative bone disease, bipolar disease, and manic headaches. She takes twenty pills plus in a day's time and sometimes she cries for more.

My brother's headaches are also extreme. The burning under the skin all over his body is enough to threaten giving it all up and going on to be with the Lord.

We have heard Todd Bentley from Canada is in Auburndale Life Church, the Ignited Church in Lakeland, Florida and from what we are hearing the miracles are unceasing.

We are planning on attending this evening. The distance is far, considering we live in Tampa, Florida, yet the signs following make it all worth our time and efforts.

We hear of organs being replaced, repaired, diseases disappearing, so much healing going on there is no room for everybody.

I hope this encourages your needs. In Christ.

Jesus is our example

Matthew 26:39-42

39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. 41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

42He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."

We know with God all things are possible. Beseech Him, beg Him, plead with Him.

My suggestion is to come to a catharsis. Empty yourself to God and then, in the end trust Him. You can still cry out to the Lord for healing and mercy, but trust Him regardless.

With much Love - Your brother

I'm sure by this time you're already there but I was healed at a healing service of a very severe case of scoliosis so I am proof that God still heals through miracles today. I wish you the best.

Does anyone have a link to the services? I'll actually be back home in the Tampa area next week on a business trip, and it just so happens my terminally ill and unsaved grandmother is visiting my parents down there at the same time. I may just see if I can get her up to these services one night next week.

this is my experience and my answer, according to the Truth that i know:
Psalm 116

1 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
2 Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.
3 The cords of death entangled me,
the anguish of the grave came upon me;
I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.
4 Then I called on the name of the LORD :
"O LORD, save me!"
5 The LORD is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.
6 The LORD protects the simplehearted;
when I was in great need, he saved me.
7 Be at rest once more, O my soul,
for the LORD has been good to you.
8 For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,
9 that I may walk before the LORD
in the land of the living.
10 I believed; therefore I said,
"I am greatly afflicted."
11 And in my dismay I said,
"All men are liars."
12 How can I repay the LORD
for all his goodness to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the LORD.
14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD
in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.
16 O LORD, truly I am your servant;
I am your servant, the son of your maidservant ;
you have freed me from my chains.
17 I will sacrifice a thank offering to you
and call on the name of the LORD.
18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD
in the presence of all his people, 19 in the courts of the house of the LORD—
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the LORD,

i cried out to the Most High God, and He answered me. i didn't do any rituals, and i don't believe in luck. i do believe in the God who has all power and cares for me. He heard and answered me, and i am healed. and it is on paper. God does heal. all i know to do, is call on the Lord. the Word tells me that whosover calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved, and i believe that means saved from anything that i needed to be saved from. sickeness, disease, and premature death. God is merciful, and He is good. and yes, i did read the Word, prayed, and spent a lot of time with God, not to be healed, but just because the only way i knew to find help was to get to God. if i could just get to Him, i knew He would help me. just as the woman who touched the fringes (if you study it, it was the tassels of the four-cornered garment of Christ, that contained the Law, and the authority of the Word) that is what i did. the pope could not help me, man has no power within himself to heal. God uses doctors, according to the wisdom and gifts he has given. may people prayed for me, and i am grateful for their prayers. but i know that am standing well and whole today because of the goodness and kindess of God!

Like all great television ministries, we need to test the spirits.

Yes, they do. But, be very wary of those high-flying TV ministries.

When we submit to our Lord Jesus Christ the enemy will flee. Now that is the answer to all healing.

Should we act like people in Jesus day, travel many miles to seek out the Pope or whichever evangelist one follows, and reach out to touch the hem of their garment.
Well, I don’t remember seeing anything in His Word about seeking out the Pope and touch the hem of their garment.

Let’s hang onto the garment of praise and thanksgiving, and His Word, and being obedient and disciplined in His Word. And then when we submit to His Word, who is our Lord Jesus Christ, then we are healed by His Stripes.

Not as easy as many say it is.

Should we perform certain rituals that others claim have affected healing?
What rituals did our Lord Jesus Christ perform? What did His Disciples perform?

Read through Ephesians of His Inspired Word, not some watered-down version, and circle every word of “POWER”

Ephesians 3
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[a] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Should we sit back and pray "thy will be done" and wait and see if God choses to make us one of the lucky ones?

Any ideas? All replies are welcome.
Read Ephesians 4 and 5 thoroughly.

Oh, and please try to act like civil adults and avoid the bickering that seems to plague so many threads.
Ah bickering is for the enemy’s children.

Be blessed in Jesus’ Name.

A third way is through the Holy Communion -- the bread is for the healing of our bodies; the wine/blood forgivness of sins. These elements remind us that we are healed and forgiven.

It's not about what WE DO but what HE has DONE.

Where does it say in the NT that communion is for the physical healing of our bodies?

By his stripes we are healed. Stripes are on the body.

The gentile woman asking Jesus for healing, Jesus said that healing was the children's bread (and she replied that even dogs get the scraps under the table)

Paul said that many sleep for lack of understanding what communion is.

sorry - from memory so no verses provided, but they'd be easy enough to find.
