How Does Ocd Affect You?

Kashkablue is that you, V? I also have the problem of symmetry with my hair and other things. I will cut my hair obsessively to get perfect. I think about things over and over in my mind. I get obsessed with having "bed bugs", fleas, lice, any bug. Get obsessed I will have them in my house. If I see a "rash" on my kid or self I freak it could be ringworm. Anything, you name it, I can get obsessed with and my mind just wont let it go.

I have had OCD since I was five. It originally began as weird thoughts, like if I walked between two objects that were similiar, I would end up in paralell universes. when I was 10, I began to think that I could contact the devil with my thoughts and that I would accidentally sell my soul to him to make something bad happen. That has been my main obsession since then. In 2003, right when I joined CF, I had a total mental breakdown thinking I had sold my soul and I would be killed in a particularly horrid manner. I thought I had to be schizophrenic. I went to a doctor and was told I have severe OCD (which I am currently on disability for).

Right now, things are getting better because I am using rational thinking to realize that #1 There is no Biblical evidence for soul selling and #2 Thoughts in my head that are not controlled by me are not things I can be held responsible for. I am knowing that even if selling your soul is possible, it can't be done against my will.

For all of us who have Christian OCD, another name for it is Scrupulosity and doing research on that helps out a WHOLE lot.
