• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

how do you "rate"?

2nd try ... :D :) .
Scored identical 100% on 2 categories !
#3 is Lutheran 97%.

Well, I guess I'll never hit the 100% Lutheran. :)
The eschatology part does not have the option that I believe in, so I checked "not sure". :)

This IS fun. :)

Well Ed, it looks like you are an Anglican Charismatic (one of a kind ^_^ )!
Actually, from what I've seen, there are "charismatics" among most denominations. I've met charismatic Catholics, Presbyterians, Methodists, and Episcopalians. In some ways it's more a description of your worship-style and emphasis on the Spirit, than on the core beliefs of your doctrine.

I was surprised to come out 100% as Anabaptist, mainly because I know little if anything about them.

Chances are, you put the complete separation of church and state up high, and you chose the one that talked about non-violence. You may also have chosen believer's baptism. Those are a few of the traditional "markers" of the Anabaptist faith.

That being said, I came up as:

Percent Rank Item
(100%) 1: Lutheran
(87%) 2: Presbyterian/Reformed
(82%) 3: Anglican/Episcopal/Church of England
(82%) 4: Congregational/United Church of Christ
(79%) 5: Eastern Orthodox
(79%) 6: Roman Catholic
(73%) 7: Baptist (Reformed/Particular/Calvinistic)
(44%) 8: Church of Christ/Campbellite
(42%) 9: Methodist/Wesleyan/Nazarene
(39%) 10: Seventh-Day Adventist
(25%) 11: Pentecostal/Charismatic/Assemblies of God
(22%) 12: Baptist (non-Calvinistic)/Plymouth Brethren/Fundamentalist
(20%) 13: Anabaptist (Mennonite/Quaker etc.)

Interestingly, if I'd changed two questions, I would have come out solidly Reformed/Presbyterian, and Lutheran would have dropped to number four, at 77 percent.

For grins, I went back and changed two questions, that I waffled a bit on. I chose the "council of elders" rather than "congregational" mode of political organization. Also, I chose "The bread and wine remain only bread and wine in substance, but by partaking them, faithful believers receive Christ's physical body and blood through the power of the Spirit." instead of "bread and wine are changed so that they become one in substance with Christ's body and blood, that their essence is changed into the body and blood without losing their natural properties."

That Eucharist question really loads the quiz toward Lutheran, since Lutherans are pretty much the only group that believe and confess that specific doctrine.

My results...

100% Lutheran
87% Presbyterian/Reformed
85% Eastern Orthodox
82% Anglican
77% UCC
68% Roman Catholic

Some of these questions had me scratching my head and putting a low rating on how strong I felt about it.

I've done 2 or 3 of these now. I ALWAYS come out less Catholic than I am.

Pax!

:D . But I am very liturgically oriented.
I do not clap, dress up for church, follow everything in proper order, love the hymns.

I guess I am a hidden Charismatic ... :D :) .

These are contradictory statements.

I don't understand...
I grew up in a lutheran family, and attended lutheran churches for most of my life. After a falling out with a pastor who almost destroyed a church, I left and went on a merry go round of denominations in search of the right one for me. In the end I ended up back at a different lutheran church after someone challenged me "Why are you looking for a church that suits you, instead of a church where you can suit them?"

Anyways... I find that I learn more about christianity and living as a christian in a smaller bible study group setting, rather than communal worship.

Although a person can certainly learn much during a large church service....I think it's mostly for worship, thus it's called a worship service. And I agree with you, it's great learning in small groups.

How can I be 100% in three groups? Because I've definitely got theological and historical problems with numbers 1 & 2!

And, I've never heard of a "Particular Baptist". What's that?

Well, I guess 3 is the number of the Trinity, so that one's right!

No big surprises for the first 5. Lutheran (ELCA) has always been another possible option for my husband and I. But after that is gets a little wacky.

LOL...How does one jump from Lutheran, RC to United CoC, giving equal rank to Orthodox, Presbyterian THEN down to Anglican?

I didn't rank the importance of the questions, but I'm not surprised that given my focus on tradition, RC would be high in my list...just not THAT high. :swoon:
