I think the vast majority would agree that they are the lowest of low life's. So why are they granted permits to public ally demonstrate?

Why didn't the city just say no and make it an unlawful assembly?

I'm not sure. And they also brought *A LOT* of firepower and guns to Charlottesville. That alone, I would think make a city not want to grant them a permit. Once the governor declared State of Emergency, it became an unlawful assembly and they had to pack up and move out.

Virginia is an open carry state, so as long as you allow people to assemble, those people can choose to carry guns.

(I agree the city and the police were likely not happy about it, but they had no authority to forbid it.)

Surely police can stop and request display of permit for the gun being carried though? At 9:07 and 19:10 of the documentary there is a large amount of firepower being referenced and displayed. I can see why the state of emergency was declared. It was a miracle no shots fired, and if one was fired by any side, police, protestors, counter protestors or any Joe-Rando there would have been a bloodbath.

If you ban or even criminalize the right of people to speak in the public square, even if you don't like the message, even if that message is full of hate, how long do you think it will take before Christians are the ones who are being locked up?

If you want to ban free speech, just remember not to use a double-standard and realize you are promoting the right of you speaking in public as well, because there are very many people out there who consider the gospel of Jesus Christ to be hate speech.

By the way, I don't agree with racism on either side.
