How do you pray?

How do I pray? Let me count the ways...just kidding..

Prayer can be anywhere, anytime.. but there are special daily prayers that as a Baha'i I recite.. Since these are daily prayers I'll describe them..

I wash my hands and face.. (ablutions)

Turn to the Holy Land where there's a place called "Bahji"..just a little north of Mount Carmel (Qiblih)

I follow the instructions for the long obligatory prayer and begin reciting it.

Long Obligatory Prayer

After the obligatory prayer I recite the Tablet of Ahmad

Following that I recite the Greatest Name ninety five times.

Seems like a hell of a lot of obligation. Does it gratify you? I mean do you have a conversation with God?

Is it two way, or just one way traffic? You pray, pray, pray, pray and silence?

It's either Santa or the Easter Bunny, or if you try really hard you might see the FSM.

Oh you're being a silly wabbit. I'm not saying I use Yoga to tune into God but rather to relax my body and and slow down my mind before spending time kneeling in quiet contemplation

Combining? I know that often when I do difficult balancing poses my mind actually focuses on God and His love and often it centers me and I can balance myself in a pose very well for quite a long time. Then after that I kneel and my mind slips quite easily into silence with the occassional flurry of thoughts. Stretching the muscles helps release pockets of stress and tightness so contemplation is not interrupted with aches and pains. After that I am centered and recharged for service at work. To minster and also be quite the silly wabbit too Humor is a good part of my ministry

Not really "a hell of a lot of obligation" at all. It doesn't "gratify" me either.

Conversation with God is a good description though..

'Abdu'l-Bahá describes prayer as 'Conversation with God', and concerning meditation He says that 'while you meditate you are speaking with your own spirit. In that state of mind you put certain questions to your spirit and the spirit answers: the light breaks forth and the reality is revealed."

She's doing that by her own choice: not all of it is required--in particular, recitation of the Tablet of Ahmad isn't.

And she's perfectly free to pick either of the shorter obligatory prayers, including one that takes perhaps eight seconds to recite and requires no gestures or movements, if she so chooses.

I think you're back on "conversation with God" and "two way traffic".. If you are familiar with Baha'i prayers you'll see how that conversation can occur from the prayers themselves...

Long Obligatory Prayer

As to the blessings of prayer that can be multiple through out the day and the rest our lives.

How do you not pray? Every moment esssentialy for me is prayer. But I have to be honest. I observe everything and I pray for for everybody. But my patience is wearing thin. I Love my human family. But most of you ignore or bypass my words like they are nothing. My words are not nothing. But I am not thr judge as I am judged myself. But even I grow weary of your folly.
