I'm wondering how you do this. Can anyone help?
I think a lot of the response on this thread are far from what I would call compassionate, or Biblical - and certainly not within the ideals held by the Faith Movement.
I smell a rat - a dead, rotten, decomposed RAT!
When we become followers of Christ are we not to be as Christ was?
Hmmm..! Maybe more than one.
Greater works...

The way you overcome bitterness toward God is to tell Him you're sorry for feeling that way and ask Him to help change your attitude.I'm wondering how you do this. Can anyone help?

God (the power of the cosmos) owes you diddly squat.
I agree completely.
Some of the answers are only further angering me. Is that the intent of some here? Because if it is, it's working. And it's only pushing me farther away from God.

You need God, so it's unwise to hold onto your bitterness and separate yourself from Him.
I guarantee you're misunderstanding something if you're blaming God for anything.
Christ said the devil comes to steal kill and destroy, but I've come that you might have life abundant.
If you're life isn't abundant, you need God's help to find out from scripture how the devil has tricked you into allowing him to steal kill and destroy things in your life.
The parable of the sower says the shallow soil (heart) is one who receives God's word gladly at first, but when trouble comes for the word's sake, the heart withers (loses joy and faith) because it had no root.
We all experience trouble. Those who stand with God, get His help with trouble, and come out better than before like Job.
Those who blame God allow the devil to steal kill and destroy their lives with no way out.
If you like Job, follow his example and repent as he did for complaining to God. He repented and glorified God and God returned a double portion to him. I suggest you read Job 1-3 and 38-42 if you're looking for God's answers to Job. The rest of Job is the foolish ideas of his friends.
I'm often offended by the responses here. And when I'm finished throwing a tantrum, I realize that their advice was more what I needed to hear than the coddling. You're a grown man. You need to take responsibility for your life. God doesn't owe you a thing, and to be angry with him is great. But take it out on him. Yell and cuss at him if you want. He's not going to get mad at you. It's all a process.
Everyone here has been disappointed and let down in life. We didn't ask to be put on this planet. God understands. He is experiencing everything you are, because he is in you. He is with you right now. Your perspective is the only hindrance.
On the one hand, that is true and I'm not arguing with that.
However, on the other, I would ask what telling me this so rudely is hoping to accomplish? If God doesn't even bother to answer prayers, why do I pray or believe in him? I might as well be an atheist, for all practical purposes, according to what you said.

And I have. But I'm beyond angry. I'm bitter. Bitterness is when unresolved anger takes root in the heart. I could potentially end up walking away from God at some point, if my heart does not change or if God doesn't do something. I have talked to god about this. Nothing changes, he doesn't care as you say.
I guess we'll see what happens. We know he won't do anything, so it's probably going to be the former.
You're right, we didn't ask to be here. It's customary for a good parent to take care of their children and their needs and sometimes, even their wants. But I guess human rules don't apply to Yahweh, do they?
Yes he lost his temper yet he did not sin. We are able to do the same.Christ wasn't at all like we are though.
He was divine perfection in the flesh. The Son of man. But the embodiment of God.
And let's not forget he lost his temper in the Temple when he overthrew the money changers tables.
So while being divine he also had a temper.
How can we who are sinners hope to be like unto the man who was sinless?
I agree completely.
