How do you when God promised you something? Especially questions concerning life/emotional questions?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Promises regarding personal questions like companionship or other emotional questions, dating, marriage. However it can be applied towards following your dreams. Or anything you hope for. As long it's not bad.

I see. It seems it's difficult for many not to slide into some kind of divination about these things, so I would be cautious.
With respect to the personal issues of your life, I don't think there is a set formula. But prayer and seeking the advice of elders is a good idea.

We all start with 1 (Self included; in that we ourselves try to reason with self.) Some are aware of our nature (duality) and some do not. #2 arises in seeking advise and/or reason from man "but" seek scripture too and then we choose (Situational dependent). #3 arises from #2 when we seek advise/reason from men/women but test the Spirit through God 1 John 4:1. <-- in part.
Something to ponder... As a child we used the God given gift of empathic ability. We all possess it but do not exercise it for it has been lied to and for most we shut it down to survive this earth (1 example out of thousands... Santa Clause). Empathic means more than the rote definition. Read wiki on it
. However, we shut it down and live in a certain lie as the group does whether it be family, church or friends and we label this social and/or normalcy. Yet, in the heart of hearts we can't shut empathic abilities down completely and thus stress arises as we know something is not right but continue to survive this earth.
Take the above paragraph to God and test it in truth.

At the moment, I'm going through a similar testing time. God gives us a dream or vision and includes us in it at various stages according to our level of fellowship with Him, and in His own time. After all, it's His dream or vision which He has decided to include us in on.
As we develop a deeper fellowship with God through Jesus, we realise more and more that the path we are taking is the correct one. Often, it doesn't make a great deal of sense at the time, but when we reflect upon a certain event in context of weeks and months, then the Holy Spirit reveals the explanation.
As we trust God more and Man less, then we really begin to know that God's promise is real and we live our lives with increasing confidence. We step out in faith and trust that we are taking the correct steps.
In my circumstances, the Holy Spirit has continued to fellowship with me even though I haven't been to church in several months and I don't have a Church home.
You see, I know that God continues to lead me into deeper fellowship with Himself ever since He called me when I was a teenager. When you are saved God includes you in His long-term plan, no matter how far we think we might have strayed or how much we think we've sinned. God's grace is greater - wider and deeper than we could ever imagine. His grace is sufficient.
So I'm enjoying life at the moment - on a retreat of sorts, where the Holy Spirit is showing me how to really enjoy God's bounty, to revel in His love, and then to teach others how to do the same.
You see, as Spirit-filled Christians, we enjoy searching for hidden treasure. Every day is a New Day where we are shown the meaning of life, where we are given greater and greater insight into what's happening around us. This is both for our own enrichment as well as we are being taught skills to pass on.
