What if I told you to remove from your mind that Satan is this "Incarnate of Evil", would you call me crazy? Maybe some might. But let me help you here a moment.
Satan is not a God, he not an Incarnate, he is a fallen Angel.
However, Satan is the antagonist of God, and in a simple way, Satan knows he can not get back to Heaven, but is still, not the "Almighty Evil One" Only God is the Almighty (Anything). Satan wants us to fall short of the Kingdom of Heaven, because Satan himself fell short of the Kingdom of Heaven. It would be best looked at like:
Misery loves Company.
If Satan can convince us to remove ourselves from God, then he passes along his own failure, his own loss to us, Gods creation.
And because, we are allowed to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, Satan is bitter about that, (Wouldn't you be?).
So, if you look at Satan like someone just trying to drag others down with him, it makes much more sense, then to look at Satan like some "Incarnate of Evil"
