In Joshua 2 the prostitute Rahab hid Israelite spies and lied about it. She was rewarded and even became an ancestor of Jesus. A similar thing happened in World War 2 where some people were hiding Jews and lied about it to the authorities...
Anyway I was wondering how you'd decide if dishonesty is ok under certain circumstances...? What if it wasn't a matter of life or death but was about struggling finances?

There is a commandment about not bearing false witness / lying.... Romans 13 also says to obey the government. So if you were hiding some Jews and a Nazi government asked you whether you knew of any Jews it seems there are two reasons to tell the truth. Though in Jericho Rahab lied about...
