CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is what I do when I get stuck: Get out of your normal writing place. Let your brain refresh. Change the lighting, smell, and sound of where you are writing. For Ex: Try writing with the lights dimmed, or having candles in the room that give you a smell. Music, I can not tell you how much music can help you get out of ruts. Listen to differnt kinds of music, not music you like, but music that will help create a mode. Just remeber to never give up on your writing, even if your mind is telling you know at the time, save it for a later date. I have been stuck many times, and left it alone, only to find it a couple years later, and have a fresh new twist for it. Hope this helps...

The whole background thing. Do you think I should completely just take it out for now? Because I am helpless as it is. I can't find the balance.

It hasn't really changed... I worked with it but didn't save the changes because they were worse or I didn't prefer it over what I had.

Oh. Well, don't stress it. The whole reason I've barely started on my story is because I keep worrying about how good it is--and trying to balance background and whatnot.
