Just a thought I had today...Today was a bit of rough day. How do other Christians work their way through a tough day and what do they do after?
You see today started with my first class suddenly being pulled out from under me (I am on a contract at the moment which started yesterday) becuase there was some SOSE performing arts thing on or something. Anyway all the kids who hadn't brought back their permission forms and money were put in one class (which I was told 5 min before the bell I was to take). So I ended up in a class with 50 kids who I don't know by myself and not enough books to go around etc. The room was overcrowded and hot - and a disaster. It took me 3/4 of a 70min lesson to get someone else in there (of itself far from legal).
2nd lesson there was a class wandering around trying to find their class as it had moved. As my class were small and kids wandering around unsupervised is far from ideal I told them to come in and join my year 9 class and sent a student to the office to find where the class should be. The kid never went to the office and it was 45min into the lesson before the teacher and the rest of the class were found.
Lesson 3 I had a grade 11 class for the first time (first time with this particular class i mean). They were rude, obnoxious and unresponsive. Five of them were sent to the office by another teacher after throwing a lighter around the room and refusing to hand it over. They did little work and then had the check to say that I was the reason they were going to fail - hmmm I have had them one lesson and they are not working and I am the reason they are failing ...how figure?
Lesson 4 my grade 10s decided that spit balls were in fashion again and made a terrible mess of the room...which I had them clean up most of before they left at the end of hte day. Still reprimanded for the state of the room.
Seriously I got to the end of the day debating whether I go back tomorrow. Yet in taking the contract I have said that I would be there for the next four weeks. To pull out of it would not be true to my word.
Why on earth am I a teacher...I wonder sometimes.

So how do you deal with days like that.

how do you deal with it? the same way Jesus did.

When he was faced with 5,000 hungry people
the first thing He had them do was to sit down in groups. He asked God to multiply what provisions they had, and it was done. So the next time when you have an overflowing class, ask then to sit down, find someone else with a book and share, and then put the lesson on the blackboard.

In your second example of the wandering and lost class you did great! you brought them in and made them welcome. the most important thing was that they had a lesson for that time, and they were under a teacher's care. If it happens again, tell them that you will work to find out where they should be and have the answer for them at the next session. That keeps you in control and assures them that there will be an answer at a specific time.

for lesson 3 you can tell those grade 11's that you will promise to do your job of bringing the education to them, but if they are going to learn they must be willing to crack a book and read it. Use the example of a cafeteria--the food is available and is given to them, but it is their own fault if they go away hungry.(this is usually fairly effective if done right before lunch time);)

for your grade 10's, tell them that they've had their fun for the grading period. From now on it's work as expected, and anyone who doesn't work should expect not to pass the course. But about once every two weeks throw something interesting and fun into the lesson. it doesn't have to be spitballs, but it should be a change of pace to give everyone a chance to relax a bit.
Kids that age are not quite ready to settle down for long bouts of serious study, and they have a lot of energy to burn.

and don't worry, you'll do just fine!

Thanks P. I appreciate the input and yes that helps in those specifics. But I guess what I am more looking for is how do you stop yourself from being dragged down with it? How would you go about continuing to live the life Jesus did when really all you want to do is rip a few heads? Sorry for not being overly clear in the op. Really do appreaciate your help though.

Under my breath, I pray in tongues a lot. When I'm finely alone I get silent before the Lord and spend some time with Him just talking with Him. I will also put on some praise music and worship. Done on a daily basis, as many times as desired aids in getting rid of any short fuse hanging around. :)
