any disobedience to God. It shuts the door between the two of you. So anything that distances me from Him is the worst thing I could do.

I agree with anna. all sins are the same in the eyes of the Lord. any disobedience hurts your relationship with God, and it could be a sin that we'd consider small. on a personal note, respect and nonjudgement of others has been at the top of my list lately with things i've been working on.

I believe also that any sin is as bad as another. Having said that I had always thought that rape was the worst as it hurts so many people.

When it comes to sin I think you have to look at it like this,
sin is falling short of God's standards set for us, it is, to use a metaphor, missing the bus. It doesn't matter whether you missed the bus by 10 seconds or 3 hours, you are still not on it, so in that sense, one sin is the same as any other.
In my mind missing by a little way is even worse in some ways because if you had tried just a tiny little bit more you might just have made it. If you had run that last 10 yards instead of walking you might have made it!!

All sin is not the same
Saint John tells us 1 John 5:17 (read 5:14-17 for context) "Every kind of wickedness is sin, but not all sin leads to death."
This is an example of sin that does lead to death:
1st Corinthians 6:9-10
"Do you not realise that people who do evil will never inherit the kingdom of God? make no mistake--the sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, the self-indulgent, sodomites, theives, misers, drunkards, slanderers, and swindlers, none of these will inhereit the kingdom of God."
This is an example of a sin that does not lead to death:
1st Corinthians 3:11-15
"For nobody can lay down any other foundation than the one which is there already, namely Jesus Christ. On this foundation, different people may build in gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw but each person's handiwork will be sown for what it is. The Day which dawns in fire will make it clear and the fire itself will test the quality of each person's work. The one whose work stands up to it will be given his wages; the one whose work is burn down will suffer the loss of it, though he himself will be saved; he will be saved as someone might expect to be saved from a fire."

I though blaspheming the Holy spirit was the only inpardonable sin. so wouldnt that be the most serious?

mmmm... sin is sin so where should i begin to explain this ruck that we are in, i see the devil's grin, which is quite grim so i look to Him, who is in control and behold I know all the prophecies foretold means that I am one of the same mold, God's Son, in whom the battle is won, shining brighter than the sun, what will happen in the end? Save your unsaved friend, all your effort lend to Jesus, because you all need this like Oxygen breathed to a feutus, believe this as your life will end in bliss sealed by the Groom's kiss, so what did you miss???

True, once we've become christian, it's in our nature to abhor sin. To those of you who are so hard on our sinful nature as beings of the flesh, be mindful of your hypocrasy.
To the original post, the worst sin according to the Bible is:
"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be FORGIVEN men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come." -Matthew 12:31-32
Now you have to question God with your spirit. What is the Holy Spirit? Start by asking yourself, "What is MY spirit?" Then what was Jesus' spirit like? How could you blaspheme His Spirit? One whose most core is spoken of in Matthew 22:34-40. Of all the laws laid down to Moses, they ask which one summarizes what we should do as Christians. He says in verse 37, "You shall love the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART, with ALL YOUR SOUL, and with ALL YOUR MIND." The second was like it, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." That is the core value of the Spirit of the Lord.
If you were to baspheme against that by believing something like, "I hate that Jesus would actually have compassion for people." That would be pretty messed up.

Does the fact that you guys are contradicting yourselves in mid-thought come to play? You say that God thinks all sins are equally bad, and right after you say that the worst sin is_______!!!

I think that suicide is the worst sin...you can't exactly ask forgiveness for it. Isn't there something in the Bible about an unforgivable or unmentionable sin or something?

Well, sin isn't measured in size or how bad is the worst sin or whatever. All sin is the same in God's eyes. At least that's what I have come to understand. I could be wrong. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and Suicide are sins that would probably be the worst since they can't be forgiven.Toxic-Jubilee said:
