How do we give up the things we want the most for God?

i dont know....i'm very much attracted to movies and Liverpool football(they're useless right?)....any advice?and how do we give up all our worries and problems..to place God in the 1st place.....thank you!

Prayer. And give all your problems to God. You are not hiding your wrong doings from him, He knows all things. Repent and give it all to Him, Him who molds the miry clay! Glory!!!

I don't think you have to give up the thing you really like just place God first before those things. Make sure he is your number one and nothing else. Spend time with him, talk to him, see just how good he really is.

God can be first in your heart. Do all things to his glory and honor. When movies and lLiverpool football takes you way from God, or your worship of God(not necessarily church). But if your right arm makes you sin cast it away. It your eye cause you to sin, pluck it out and cast it away.

Point is do away with what make you stumble, but God gave to wonderful things like movies and sports to have fun in your life. Enjoy the BLESSINGS he gives and, PRAISE him for them. Praise him for movies, praise hikm for football!

And I will pray for your struggles to resolve quickly.

Don't live in two worlds - the religious and spiritual, and down here, the ordinary things of life. There are plenty o fthinsg we can enjoy. It's just a matter of not letting them get out of perspective.

You know, movies and football may be useless to many people - however, all I think of them as is entertainment. What is wrong with entertainment? If we don't place it before God, is it a sin? As long as we give the Lord first place in our life.....then something that we enjoy doing once in a while - like watch a good movie - isn't putting that before God.

As far as worries/problems are concerned....they are quite difficult to take to the Lord in prayer and leave them there. We are human. It is VERY easy to pick the troubles right back up after we ask the Lord to handle them. Here's a real good scripture for you - I really like it. I Peter 5:7 "Casting all you care upon him; for he careth for you." It's true, my friend. Jesus really does want us to cast all our care upon Him. He really does care. He cared enough about YOU to die on the cross so you would have a way to get to heaven.

if it's something you're passionate about, stick with it. But I do agree that there are times when you do need to sort of pause and re-evaluate things. But certainly doesn't mean to do away with something you enjoy.

Well bless your heart.. There is nothing wrong with movies (as long as their not demonic) and football. But a minister said one time.. Whatever takes the most of your thought life and your time is your God.

In His word,, He said He'd have no other God's before me..

Well,, let's put this in context... Have you ever known anyone to be obsessed with their car.. They wash it and wax it everyday,, (it seems like) Passengers have to take their shoes off to ride in it,, and the owner would go into orbit if a small scratch or dent would mar it's appearance... do you know what I mean?? This car is this person's God.

If a person chooses to do something other than read, pray or fellowship at the appointed time.. then those things are a God... see what I mean..

He would have no other God's before Him... do you stay home from Church to watch a special movie or game??

Would you rather turn a needy person down that asks for a ride to the the doctor or grocery store because you don't want to mess up your car? Or watch a special movie?? Understand..

He said "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and ALL these things shall be added unto you"

You are not saved due to the fact you do or don't watch or participate in football or watching movies.. You are saved because you have recognized Jesus as your Savior, you've repented from your sins.. and asked Him to be Lord of your life. Period,,, you could serve veggie soup at the street corner all day and everyday and still not have a home in heaven if you haven't received Jesus as your Lord and Savior..

As for giving up all your cares and worries,, He said Cast all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you.. Pray,, give these things to the Lord,, and DON'T pick them back up again and start worrying about the thing you just gave him.. he will grant you peace and take control of the situation.. He loves you..

Dear Lord,, thank you for being Lord of Lords and King of Kings.. if there is anything in my fellow servant's life that hinders their walk with you,, I pray you will show it and they will ask you to help them overcome it..
