Casinos attract all kinds of trouble. It's whole existence promotes a hedonist lifestyle. "Anthing goes in Vegas", "What happens here stays here." Yes, sober or drunk, responsible or idiot adults can play any agme having every right to spend as much as they want. It attracts the bad people like a magnet: drug dealers, mobsters, gangs, loan sharks, etc.
Large amounts of money being poured into schools and worthy programs always gets approved. Like the lottery which seems relatively harmless and for the most part with most people is. But I just hate the idea that it uses the false hope in luring poor folk into a big win. The odds are worse than Keno (similar game in casinos). Whats next Adult clubs with legalized prostutition as long as they give 30% of their profits to education, building highways or drug rehab programs. Lets put a sign up in front of the schools. "Thanks to Harrahs Club for the construction of this school." The $4000 a year you pay in property taxes is not enough and you still have to buy school supplies and uniforms for your kids.
Casinos play to sin nature of people not to game playing fun. Its a trap masquerading as a angel of fun and challenge but sooner or later will take all you have and leave you in the gutter hungover and crying. Thanks to all the fools who spend their so called extra spending money on a game geared for them to lose. "Sorry, the house wins, get out!, but before you go, we will buy you a nice breakfast."

My friend I agree that this is a cancer and it is so sad when Christians go in for this kind of thing. Saddly the house of Christ will have to be united on this before a real battle can be wages. The Church is greatly divided on this issue as my home state of Tennessee clearly showed when the lottery came to a vote. As hard as we fought it it was the the defectors from the the churches that allowed the lottery to pass so overwhelmingly. Since churches have split and many families have suffered.
I wish we had a magic bullet to end this non sense as well as other social evils that have fallen on us. Until then we can pray that God will work a great miracle for prayer is firing the winning shot.
In Christ
Tom

It was actually a close vote. It was the "for the children" argument that tipped it over the edge. I also live the the great state of Tennessee.

Common sense observations show that this is wrong in a vast majority of cases. Anyone with self control can gamble without being irresponsible.

Working at the gateway to Sin City my common sense observations has shown that the most responsible people who have incredible self-control will eventually yield to the awesome power of the giant beast, and bow down, to spill out all their hard earned money on its green felt altar without any hesitation.

I still think preaching, signs, and literature outside of these places will help plant seed of the Gospel. These people (most of them) need Jesus just like you did. It is a great place to reach them in large numbers.

God bless you. I was with an street evangelistic group and we attempted passing out tracts in the front of Casino. Management didn't waste anytime. Police were called and charges were threatened if we did not move. Even though we were within our rights to practice free speech in a public place(sidewalk), Casinos have alot of pull with local officials. They looked at this as "sacred territory" and how dare us violate the grounds. My wife was arrested once for just handing out Christian concert flyers. They didn't arrest me for some reason. I think God knew I had the keys to the car and was able to drive downtown to pick her up from the slammer.

Not as bad as a Rolling Stones concert or a Hockey game though. The fans there will beat you up.

First: The First Amendment's best friend -- VIDEOTAPE and audiotape.

Second: The First Amendment's next best friend -- AFA Law Center or Aliance Defense Fund.

You can get these casino bosses and their police lackeys in the soup so fast their heads will swim. I've done it here and a friend, who lives in Las Vegas has done it there. We'll help!

And what about cigarette smokers. I hate cigarettes as their are over 19 different kinds of poison in a cigarette. I do not like casinos, but I hate cigarettes a lot worse.

Not the same. Also, and fortunately, cigarettes are gradually becoming unpopular and socially unacceptable. More pressure is given at work and public places not to smoke. However, gambling seems to be on the upswing. I'm seeing more and more Poker shows, Lotteries, and ads for Casinos.

I smoked for a few years in my younger days. It was harder to stop than drinking. In the midst of the habit you know its wrong but cling to it like some kind of secret love affair and refuse to acknowledge the side effects, the smokey smell of your clothes, and the health risks. (by the way and for the record I never had a secret love affair) God never let me get way with anything. I got caught even with stupid white lies.

Another point to consider: a Casino is like a virus thats causes the flu and cigarettes are a symtom of that virus, fever. Smoking and drinking go with gambling as salt and ketchup on French fries.

I didn't know about the 19 poisons.

Does anyone know what U.S. citizens can do to get these cancers removed from our communities? I have tried searching the Internet but almost all I found was pro-gaming sites.
These things are about money. That is their life blood. The answer is simple. Just stay out of the casino.A Christian ought to be able and willing to do this, and if they hear of other Christians going, well, they should discuss the issue with them,so that they too will not go.There is a lot of overhead in a casino. When a certain percentage of patronage is lost it will close.I don't think for a minunite that any legislation is likely to come to the floor of the house, that bans Casino gaming,no matter how many letters are written. That is unless they are written on 100.00 dollar bills. No, gambling and porn and all the other ailments of society, can only be stopped by a public change of heart, that leads to a change of behavior. If we don't support these things, they will go away.

Instead of devoting any time getting casinos or any other kind of establishment that we don't feel jives with a Christian way of life I believe it's more fruitful to put our energies towards actively serving God instead. I believe that's the only way to affect a real change in our communities.

I agree with you in part. But also, our duty in serving God as Christians we need to stand up for whats right. We say nothing and allow evil in our land we are no better than the weak-willed church of Nazi Germany. Non-involvement of christian citizens in secular affairs may open the gates of hell and the cancer will spread from sea to shining sea. America will go from "the land of the free and home of the brave to "land where anything goes and home of the all night clubs."
Serve God, yes! But also denouce(w/calls, letters, groups, meetings, etc) the invasion of this morally degenerate lifestyle thats polluting our land.

If it's a native american, I don't think there's much you can do. If there's something under consideration, you could write to your representative and tell them what you think.

When our State Governor was running for the office she now holds, she came across (at least to me) as anti-gambling. It didn't take her long to raise the other flag once she got into office.
